After the abandonment of the first work, the development of Back 4 Blood 2 is indirectly confirmed by a discovery that leaves little room for doubt.
As a reminder, Turtle Rock Studios actually announced last year that it would stop development on Back 4 Blood two years after its release in order to focus on a new game that was a small success, despite some problems. A year after this news, we learn that a second work is actually in development, albeit through the CV of an actor who worked on it.
The development of Back 4 Blood 2 is recorded in the CV
This discovery related to Back 4 Blood 2 originally comes from mp1st. Our colleagues discovered in the CV of a certain Jesse Hutch that the actor had offered his services in motion capture for a game codenamed “Gobi 2”. Although this mention has since been removed, mp1st retained an image capture of this mention before the change. As a reminder, “Gobi” was the codename of the first work, as stated on the SteamDB page.
Logically, “Gobi 2” should correspond well with Back 4 Blood 2. It should be noted that Gobi was also a bearded dragon, the mascot of Turtle Rock Studios, who unfortunately passed away in 2018. His name was also used as a codename for Evolve’s Goliath, the asymmetrical game that caused controversy when it was released in 2015 and was a monstrous failure, to say the least. It therefore seems unlikely that the studio plans to develop a sequel to the latter. To further support the theory of Back 4 Blood 2’s development, note that the domain name ” back4blood2.com » was recorded last May and is still active today.
This bundle of clues therefore only points to one possibility: the imminent arrival of Back 4 Blood 2. However, to be sure, it’s better to wait for official confirmation from Turtle Rock Studios. Let’s also hope that the team has reworked its copy, this time offering a more brilliant successor to the masterful Left 4 Dead 2, released in 2009 and, moreover, developed primarily by the same studio.
