Several months after the release of the base game, the first control expansion is finally available on PC and PS4. Unfortunately, Xbox players will have to wait until the end of June! because of a unique selection agreement that benefits no one. The foundation is the first of two releases Remedy has announced Control will penetrate the news. We can get both if we buy them separately for € 14.99, and if we buy the season for € 24.99. The second expansion will be AWE, and it all shows that it will be related to the remake of the 2010 remedy, Alan Wake, which we find very interesting. However, for now we will focus on The Foundation.
We will only be able to streamline once we have completed the main issue. In addition, as its name suggests, it will take players so far the basis of Casa Inmemorial. The board will therefore send Jesse Faden, who is in his new position as director, to the Foundation in an effort to end a situation very similar to the end of the world. The Astral Planet fills our dimensions by using something called Monolith, so unless Jesse is able to resist this process, we will be at the end of the Ancient House and almost the rest of the world. During his inauguration at the Foundation, Jesse will learn that Helen Marshal, who disappeared in the first game, is somew here in there, and won't stop until he finds her.
We won't divulge any further details, but what we can tell you is that you will be able to find out more about the Old House, the meeting and the process of selecting a director position. However, these answers will also lead to some questions, so don't expect to get some explanation for everything that happens. The plot, the world, and the characters in Controls were unpleasant and mysterious in the basic game, and this is kept in the expansion, which we really love. The title provides just enough for players to have time to guess in this strange world, as they leave many details open to interpretation.
The general thread of the story comes directly from the sequences of films and interviews, but as with the base game, you'll also have the opportunity to enrich your knowledge of the world through audio files and texts. In addition, you can read the descriptions of strange events as if they were similar small stories. Of course, this is optional, but if you ignore the control documents and files, you'll miss out on one of its great features (which was great for Quantum Break, too, for example).
During this time, The Foundation has been divided into new sites for the construction of caves, research fields and sites for the Astral Planet. Some of these locations are interesting and some are quite impressive, but none can be compared to the best locations and scenes from the base game. Granted, it shouldn't have been easy, as the Ashtray Labyrinth represented one of the best moments of the 2019 Games, but we're still a little disappointed that they're not close.
The expansion also includes two new capabilities that you can use in Basic. This power will allow you to break the glass on the wall, roof and floor, but at first you can only have one, so you'll have to choose between the two. This option will give you access to some areas, but to access it you will need to come back once you have received the second power. So, you can use them to advance to platforms, especially those that allow you to extend crystals, but you can also use them in battle, because you can either hit enemies with crystals or literally destroy the ground where you are. find out. Sure they are really fun and add to the intensity of the battle, but the best thing is that you can combine them with basic powers such as blasting, launching or upgraded shield now.
So, The Foundation, though not as spectacular, is a nice increase we recommend to all Control fans, especially as it enters their strange but surprising world. The final boss fight is also disappointing, the fact is that we would have loved to see memorable and special scenes. However, if you're looking for excuses to continue playing Control, Basic is a good option.
