The AirPods Max were a failed bet!
Los AirPods MaxApple's most expensive headphones, have been the subject of speculation and rumors since their launch in 2020. However, the latest news suggests that the Cupertino company could put this product on the shelf. According to the latest bulletin published by analyst Mark Gurman, Apple has no “significant” plans to renew AirPods Max after the recent upgrade to USB-C.
Although AirPods Max have a premium design and sound quality, which meets the needs of a very demanding audience, their price limits them to being a bestsellerlike other members of the AirPods family. Added to this is the lack of significant updates which has limited its popularity. Despite this, Apple has decided to keep them in its catalog, without investing major efforts in their development. Not even by renewing its controversial coverage.
The future is uncertain for AirPods Max
Gurman summed up the AirPods Max scenario simply: They are not popular enough to warrant a significant investment. Despite a niche market, especially among users looking for a high quality and exclusive design product, sales have not been high enough to generate new updates.
In the middle of this year, Apple presented the second generation of AirPods Max, which did not at all meet expectations after four years of existence of the first version. It has just updated them with the USB-C connection and new colors, for the price of 579 dollars.
The current AirPods Max offer a high-quality audio experience, but lack some of the latest features of other Apple products. For example, They don't have the H2 chip, which offers improvements in noise cancellation and spatial audio.. Additionally, its design, although attractive, may be uncomfortable for some users.
If Gurman's predictions are correct, We can expect AirPods Max to remain largely unchanged for years to come. Apple could choose to reduce the price of these headphones to make them more attractive to consumers, but it's unlikely we'll see a complete redesign anytime soon.
The AirPods Max represent a risky bet on Apple's part. Although it is a high quality product, Its high price and lack of significant updates limited its commercial success. Although we may see some minor improvements in the future, it seems that Apple has decided to focus its efforts on other products, at least for now.
