This is confirmed! Players may be able to explore the Gran Turismo franchise for the first time very soon on PS5 and PS4 for free.
Gran Turismo 7 improves over time and runs even better on PS5 Pro, although without having received a performance optimization patch. As usual, the simulation has also had its share of free content since 2022, including free cars, but the studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment want to offer everyone a new free experience to mark the PlayStation's 30th anniversary. And according to this discovery, there will be no delay in the schedule.

PlayStation's 30th anniversary was celebrated with gifts and limited edition products. In a PS blog post published last September, the manufacturer promised a Gran Turismo “experience” for PS5 and PS4 players “during the end of year holidays”or in December for France. « This holiday season, expect a free experience designed to delight players of all skill levels with the critically acclaimed Gran Turismo 7. The upcoming release will feature some of the cars, tracks and events that will nostalgically relive the passion of your very first GT experience ».
A free version of Gran Turismo 7? We can understand this message, even if it is vague. There are no further details at this time other than things are moving. Our colleagues at Gematsu noticed that “My First GT” was registered by the Taiwanese Classification Authority. What does that mean? Although there are always exceptions, this reinforces the idea of an early release of this free Gran Turismo experience, as the Japanese company indicates. Is there a release coming up on December 3rd, right on PlayStation's 30th anniversary? Why not.
Last week Gran Turismo 7 released its update 1.54 with five new free cars, but not only that. An extra menu “No. 42: Ferrari Speciale”, three events, a new rim brand and the Colorado destination for the Scapes photo mode have been released. The AI GT Sophy is now available on two additional tracks, Trial Mountain and Tokyo Expressway – East Clockwise, while there are two cups with a total of 1,000,000 Cr up for grabs in the 2024 Gran Turismo World Series.
