An old-fashioned thriller
“The Little Things”, as it is called, is a thriller that immerses viewers in a difficult criminal investigation. We follow the story of a former Los Angeles deputy sheriff who is haunted by his past. As a victim of burnout, he returns to his former country for a harmless mission. However, nothing goes as planned and he must team up with Detective Jim Baxter to track down an elusive serial killer. But their methods contradict each other and each becomes the other's doctor. Tension then grips the audience as the clues lead to a man with strange behavior, Albert Sparma. The feature film is set between the familiar Seven (1995) et Zodiac (2007).
The cast is on point. We find in particular Denzel Washington, who plays the former sheriff of Los Angeles. The 69-year-old American actor has been in the headlines in recent months for starring in Ridley Scott's latest film. Gladiator 2which has just been released in cinemas. No cinema release in France
When the film was released in theaters in 2021, it was only playing in a few theaters in the United States. It is nowhere near the success the production had hoped for and is suffering enormously from the pandemic crisis associated with Covid-19. Therefore, it will be released directly on HBO Max in the US and on Netflix in France. With a budget of around $30 million, the feature film only grossed $30 million at the global box office. Luckily, streaming platforms have managed to give it a second life. The film entered the top 10 most-watched new releases on Netflix upon its release.
