Another studio founded by an ex-Mass Effect head may also be shutting down.
Worlds Untold, the game company founded by Mac Walters and backed by NetEase, has announced that it will temporarily suspend its activities in order to seek new financing opportunities.
In one official announcement Walters expressed that this decision was not made lightly and that the team is proud of the progress they have made together.
“It's hard to find the right words for this, but I wanted to let you know that we have made the very difficult decision to pause Worlds Untold operations while we search for a new partner to help us achieve our vision realize. We didn’t make this decision lightly – it was a very personal journey and we are all very proud of what this team has built together.”

Worlds Untold was launched as a fully remote studio based in Vancouver, Canada. The team was working on a triple-A action-adventure game with a strong narrative focus.
Walters, who previously worked at BioWare for almost two decades and worked on titles such as Mass Effect and Dragon Age, emphasized that the talented team members will now explore new opportunities. This development follows the recent announcement that Humanoid Studios, led by another former BioWare veteran, Casey Hudson, is closing due to unexpected funding difficulties. Worlds Untold may soon suffer a similar fate.
