Studio Bloober Team talked about the post-Silent Hill 2 remake with their next game Cronos: The New Dawn at the intersection of Resident Evil and Dead Space, but with a secret ingredient.
Silent Hill 2 Remake is the calling card that should open many doors for Bloober Team, but not only that. This project was, in a sense, a therapy for the Polish studio that has no plans of turning back. “We want to be a studio that specializes in horror. We believe we have found our niche, so we will continue to develop in it from now on. […] With Layers of Fear, the people in the studio said, “Okay, we've made some crappy games, but we can evolve.” said Wojciech Piejko. After the remake of Silent Hill 2, Bloober prepares his Dead Space with a surprise.
After Silent Hill 2, Bloober presents his game Cronos The New Dawn
There were a lot of skeptics, but Bloober Team did a great job with Silent Hill 2 Remake. Even several weeks after release, an overwhelming secret was still being discovered by players. An Easter egg that shows the developers' investment in not disappointing fans of the cult game. But now the studio's hardest part will be convincing with its new game Cronos: The New Dawn, which is a 100% original license.
A new horror title that at first glance strongly reminds us of Dead Space, and that is actually no coincidence since it is a suspected reference. « Overall, the combat is similar to Resident Evil and Dead Space. But fundamentally we're still about story content, so expect the focus to be on the story and exploring the atmosphere ». Like Silent Hill 2 Remake, there will be a mix of clashes and simple sequences that rely on atmosphere. « Fights can also be really scary if you play your cards right » explains game director Wojciech Piejko to M1Pst.
Apparently the studio wants to offer fans of the genre a survival horror experience. « You will be outnumbered and have to be careful to stay alive. Resources are limited and the monsters hit hard ». Compared to Silent Hill 2 Remake, Cronos: The New Dawn should have a surprise in store. “We have also prepared something special to spice up and increase the tension. […] In Dead Space you have to cut the limbs of Necromorphs. In Alan Wake you have to shine a lamp at enemies, and in Cronos you have to… wait until you see him ».
