Something promised by GSC Game World, something due: nine days after its release, STALKER 2 receives a highly anticipated and truly extensive first patch that is intended to stabilize the zone.
Full of qualities, STALKER 2 was unfortunately not spared from numerous bugs and technical problems that could affect the gaming experience of players on PC and Xbox Series. GSC Game World had promised to look into the matter seriously. This is evident by the release of an absolutely massive first patch, containing more than 650 fixes for both platforms (which will, however, be available on consoles later today). Let's take a closer look at all of this.
First major attempt to stabilize the zone for STALKER 2
After a colossal “Day One” patch, GSC Game World returns to us with a new, equally massive patch, following the release of STALKER 2, which sold more than a million copies in two days. Despite such an encouraging start, the title's unique gaming experience is unfortunately marred by some rather annoying issues, which this update 1.0.1 attempts to partially address. These fixes mainly focus on AI, rebalancing, bugs blocking quest progression, and even optimization.
The most notable elements of this first post-launch patch for STALKER 2 include improved AI behaviors, as well as increased equipment durability, reduced repair costs, and even higher prices for items sold. All of this largely corrects two of the biggest criticisms noted in our review of the game. This also benefits the game's so-called “Easy” difficulty level, which is more true to its name.
Those suffering from performance issues in STALKER 2 will also be happy to know that this patch fixes many crash or memory leak issues. If we present only the most notable part of the approximately 650 fixes applied, you can find them in detail via the Update 1.0.1 notes available (in English only) on the website Steam page of the game, also quoted in the STALKER OFFICIAL account's X.com post below. GSC Game World concludes by pointing out that this is just the first patch in a long series aimed at addressing the most pressing issues reported by the community.
