Tetris 99 has been available to play for over 5 years. Despite this, the game continues to receive a lot of support. When there are no updates, the game receives themes that fans can get from Maximus Cups. Most of the new themes include a first-party game that was recently released on the Nintendo Switch.
However, this is a rare exception. 43. Tetris 99 Maximus has been officially announced, but this one has been technically known since Nintendo's Partner Direct in August. Tetris celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, so it will be themed on the NES version of Tetris. The Maximus Cup will take place this week, starting on December 6.
