One UI 7 brings significant changes to the operating system of Samsung mobile phones, incorporating several new options in various sections, both aesthetically and practically. But these changes will also lead to other losses of compatibility, like the one we are experiencing today, since the Samsung DeX app for Windows will be one of those eliminated in the next major software update from the South Korean brand.
This application is what allows some Samsung Galaxy to connect to Windows computer and thus be able to mirror your screenin addition to easily sharing files by dragging and dropping them. It should not be confused with the standalone DeX functionalitywhich provides a PC-like interface.
Samsung DeX app will no longer be available
AndroidAuthority discovered an important update on the Samsung UK website, since at the bottom of this page it is mentioned that the Samsung DeX application will no longer be compatible with Windows starting with One UI 7, encouraging customers to connect their mobile phone and computer to the Link to Windows feature.
What Samsung intends with this decision is to simplify the connection offer to Windows computers. There is currently a duplication, since Microsoft has its own function (the same as that offered by the South Korean brand) and it is compatible with Galaxy models, in addition to other Android devices.
After all, Link to Windows is an application very well optimized for Microsoft operating systemwhich led Samsung to decide to use this method rather than its own.
This is not the only thing you will lose in the new Samsung software update, since One UI 7 will not allow the Edge Panel Downloads from the Galaxy Store.
It could be that these two elements were not used by the majority of Galaxy device users and that Samsung decided to remove them to simplify the system a little more.
