Well folks, Geoff Keighley is back again with another round of The Game Awards.
This year's event will mark the 10th anniversary of The Game Awards, so we're expecting some big surprises (not necessarily game announcements, I think) and spectacular celebrations. Of course, with a bunch of sponsored ads thrown in for good measure.
It's been a solid year for Nintendo, though perhaps not quite stellar compared to previous efforts. We've had some great first-party releases like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Mario & Luigi: Brothership, Princess Peach: Showtime!, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, and more. Are any of them potential prize winners..?
In this guide, we'll go over everything you need to know about this year's TGA showcase, so buckle up and let's get started.
When is The Game Awards 2024?
The Game Awards 2024 will take place Thursday, December 12 (13th for everyone east of America), live from Peacock Theater in LA at 5pm Pacific.
Here are the local times in several time zones. Remember, if you want to check out the preshow, this starts 30 minutes before the main event:
- North America: 5:00 PM (Wednesday) PST / 6:00 PM (Wednesday) MST / 7:00 PM (Wednesday) CST / 8:00 PM (Wednesday) EST
- UK/Ireland: 1am GMT
- Europe: 2 am CET / 3 am EET
- Asia/Oceania: 10:00 JST / 9:00 AWST / 12:00 AEDT
There will be a 30-minute pre-show starting at 4:30 PM PST, during which we expect several “smaller” prizes to be handed out, as in previous years.
Where can I watch The Game Awards 2024?

How long will The Game Awards 2024 last?
We are currently unsure how long The Game Awards 2024 will last, but based on previous years' events, we expect it to last around 3-4 hours. Since this is the 10th anniversary, we wouldn't be surprised if Geoff manages to extend it even longer this time.

Last year, Hades II has been revealed, so it's possible that there's an update from Supergiant Games on that front. By the way, we know everyone has their fingers crossed for something related to Silksong. And us, though
As for Nintendo, we'd probably recommend keeping your expectations in check. We don't expect any big announcements from the company (if it shows its face at all), and we certainly don't expect a 'Switch 2' announcement.

How does voting work for The Game Awards?
Now that the nominees have been announced, you can now cast your vote through the Clerk The Game Awards website. You'll need to create an account for this, but the site will walk you through each category, allowing you to pick the winner of your choice.
In-game voting for Fortnite's best island will also return this year with a brand new 'Game Awards' island in Fortnite.
