One of the uses that artificial intelligence promotes the most is the power translate and transcribe texts simply and quickly. In fact, Google was already using AI in its translation systems long before the term became fashionable. But these days it's becoming much more common.
A good example is Samsung, which in Galaxy AI not only has a simultaneous translation system for text, but also for voice calls, which is very difficult to do in real time. It also has a translation system integrated into WhatsAppbut obviously only for their Galaxy AI-equipped phones.
Well, then, Meta wants something similar to be available on all mobile phones who have installed the messaging application. To do this, it developed a text translation system, despite speculation that it could use Google's, and integrated it into the beta version of this application.
A few months ago, it became known that WhatsApp was working on integrating a translation system into the service in certain languages. Initially, the available languages would be English, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian and Hindi. In addition, instant translation can be activated of any message arriving in these languages or to be able to translate one without affecting the rest.
In a new leak, it has been found that WhatsApp is exploring additional improvements to those already known before making this feature public. To start, we will not only be able to automatically translate chat messages, but also channel updates.
Additionally, WhatsApp has designed the translation process in such a way that you will not have to send the message to your serversthe translation being carried out on the mobile phone itself, the confidentiality of the encrypted messages is therefore not broken. Of course, to do them we will have to download the package for each language, which will increase the space occupied by the application.
Despite everything, the company would like to point out that These types of translations will be indicative and not 100% accurate.so we should not trust them to make important decisions if we do not understand the original language. The reason is that by not connecting to the network, some translations may not be as accurate as those used by cloud systems.
