Still in 2021. mud Marko Kurko revealed the first look at his monstrous project, 'BK Nostalgija 64'. This love letter to the N64 and Banjo-Kazooie (whodathunkit with a title like that?) was originally slated for a Christmas 2024 release, though through a series of complications the modder decided to move things up to 2025. Fortunately, there's a brand new teaser to watch until then, which we have time marked above.
Unlike Kurk's previous mods, which combined Banjo with another N64 game — 'The Legend of Banjo-Kazooie: The Jiggies of Time' an unsurprising mash-up of BK and Ocarina — Nostalgia 64 sees the bear and the bird combined with a whole host of classic titles in an original adventure. It's like a classic Banjo game, but you can jump into the Mushroom Kingdom! How cool is that?
As the new footage shows, BK Nostalgia 64 features a massive console-mounted hub world (Astro, is that you?), with nine additional worlds spinning off of it, each inspired by a different N64 classic. So far we've had a look at Super Mario 64, Yoshi's Story, Pokémon Snap and plenty of other picturesque polygonal locales, and the mod also features 2D NES-inspired bonus worlds to mix things up.
Collectathon fans, fear not. Kurko notes that there are 99 jiggies, 115 Mumbo tokens, 1,000 notes, and more to keep an eye on throughout the mod, so the OG Banjo experience should be present and correct.
In response to the BlueSky post above, Kurko stated that they'll announce the mod's release date via their social media whenever it's ready, so keep an eye out for this one coming up your alley.
It's far from official news of a new Banjo-Kazooie game—hell, we'd be crazy to have one as full of crossovers as this one—but it's yet another proof of how hungry we Banjo fans are for platform perfection. Come on guys, give the people what they want!
