Hazelight and EA Originals revealed the new co-op action adventure Split Fiction and announced further information about the game.
As we previously reported, Electronic Arts and Hazelight Studios unveiled “Split Fiction” during The Game Awards, a new co-op action-adventure game that pushes the boundaries of the co-op genre further than ever before.
Developed by Hazelight Studios, the creative minds behind the 2021 Game of the Year “It Takes Two”, comes a co-op action-adventure game in split-screen mode in which players switch between sci-fi and fantasy worlds.
With a variety of ever-changing abilities, players take on the roles of Mio and Zoe to work together to reclaim their creative heritage and discover the power of an unexpected friendship.
“At Hazelight, we have been developing co-op games for 10 years, and with each game we push players' expectations of action-adventure co-op games. I'm so proud of what we've created with Split Fiction. Let me tell you guys, this is going to blow your mind,” says Josef Fares, founder of Hazelight Studios.
“With Mio and Zoe jumping between sci-fi and fantasy worlds, we were able to do some really crazy things with the gameplay and storytelling. This is definitely our most epic co-op adventure yet.”
In Split Fiction, players will discover a variety of sci-fi and fantasy mechanics and abilities.
In the adventure, they flee from an impending supernova, dance with a monkey, try out some cool hoverboard tricks, fight an evil kitten and hop on gravity bikes, sand sharks and other mobile vehicles.
In completely different worlds, surprising challenges await players at every corner.
The two aspiring writers Mio and Zoe are actually quite different – one writes sci-fi stories, the other fantasy stories. When they connect to a machine that catapults them into their stories, they become prisoners of their own fantasies.
Jumping between worlds, they must work together and master a variety of skills to escape and preserve their memories.
“Playing great co-op games together builds friendships and great memories – and no one does that better than Hazelight,” said Jeff Gamon, general manager of EA Partners.
“We are excited to continue our long-standing partnership with Josef and his talented team to bring to life another innovative, cooperative adventure that continues to push the boundaries and redefine what players can experience together on and off screen.”
Hazelight Studios' flagship feature, the Friend Pass, which allows players who own the game to invite a friend to play with them for free, is back and expanded even further with cross-play options for PlayStation, Xbox and PC via Steam .
