Nothing is perfect, not even Waze maps. Their community of volunteer map editors keeps their maps in good shape, but it's inevitable that sooner or later you'll come across sections that aren't updated. You can correct it.
If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Also you can edit Waze mapsalthough it is something reserved for those who have an interest – and time – in cartography. We explain how the system works and you decide what to do.
To take into account
Before you start editing maps in Waze, you need to know a series of information. The first of these is that the Waze map editor is available only on the Waze website and not via your application. You can start using it by signing in with your Waze account on the map publisher's website.
The second important fact is that what you can do in the editor depends on your level. You naturally start at level 1 and it is based on the editions that you will level up, up to the maximum level 6. From level 2 (i.e. with 3,000 editions behind you), you can display an exclusive map editor avatar in Waze).

The higher your level, the more decision-making power you have in card editing. If you don't have enough level to modify an item, you can always suggest your change. These suggestions are reviewed by map editors and approved or rejected.
The Waze map editor
The Waze map editor impresses at first, since it is a comprehensive editor in which you can make significant changes to roads and objects on the map. Or we can, well At first, you limit yourself to sending suggestions in your region (the areas you have passed through before).
The editor is understandably complex, with a right-hand bar for the main types of edits and a toolbar not too different from the one we have in Google Maps. The difference is that map layers They go much further, being able to include (or hide) data such as road connection boxes or place names.

The editor is relatively visual, in the sense that normally what you need to do is select what you want to change and edit their properties, if you have sufficient permissions to do so.
In some cases you will have permission to submit a suggested changewhile in others you will not be able to do so. As you level up, your suggestions gain more weight and are accepted sooner.

Some changes are sent as suggestions. In some cases you cannot change anything
Of course, not everything can be changed, sometimes we want to add a new location to Waze. For this, the editor has a large + button with which you can create new routes, locations, dangers, notes or restricted areas. Likewise, this is where you can create Waze events, such as a race or protest that involves certain road closures.
Waze map editing is an advanced feature for those who want to explore the world or are particularly motivated. If this is your case, it is strongly recommended that you do the card editing course for beginners of Waze, at Waze Academy. It is available in Spanish.
A more “casual” option
If you want to fix a problem on the map without studying it, you always have another option: report a card error and let the community of expert map editors take care of the technical aspects of fixing it.
You can easily do this from Waze, once you are in the area where the problem is occurring. Press the incident button and choose the incident category called Card error.

It's a good idea to press the button Comment and indicate what error there is on the map, for example that the road is one lane or that the building number is incorrect. The more details you give about the error, the easier it will be for a Waze map editor to query, verify, and fix it.
