Of course, Jurassic Park is primarily associated with Steven Spielberg – and for good reason. But without a strong script, even the master director could have failed in the spectacular screen adventure from 1993.
That was over 31 years ago David Kopp responsible, who is now dealing with the dinosaur franchise again. In fact, Koepp wrote the script for Jurassic World Rebirth, which will be released in theaters on July 2, 2025, directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Godzilla, The Creator).
Three rules Jurassic World Rebirth must follow
This may even give hope to one or two veterans of the series that Jurassic Park and World will find their way back to their old strengths with Rebirth. Koepp personally promises this in a new interview TheWrap. He has imposed a few rules on himself.
Koepp's thought behind it was: Chuck Jones, the creator of the animation legends Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, followed a similar principle in order not to alienate his own audience. However, for spoiler reasons, Koepp can currently only share three of his own rules:
- The events of the previous six films cannot be contradicted and cannot be refuted – because I hate retcons.
- All science must be based on reality.
- Humor is as important as the air we breathe.

What is Rebirth about? The plot of the latest Jurassic World revolves around scientist Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), who, together with paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) and the mercenary Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) set out to secure dinosaur samples from a tropical biosphere.
Their paths cross with a group of civilians whose boat capsized off the island in question. The story of Rebirth takes place approximately five years after Jurassic World: Dominion.
David Koepp was first responsible for the script for Jurassic Park and then also for the direct sequel Forgotten World: Jurassic Park. He then turned his back on the Dino franchise, but continued to work with Steven Spielberg from time to time.
Jurassic World Rebirth will now open in cinemas on July 2, 2025.
