Home security is experiencing a revolution thanks to the popularization of home automation, the concept of a smart home that takes advantage of Internet connectivity to offer new functionalities. We have already seen many examples of how these smart devices can protect our lives, such as with smart locks or doorbells equipped with cameras to check if squatters are entering our home.
This week Xiaomi launched new products in Europe that will allow us to control our home like never before; the key is in a new dual camera designwhich allows you to have two lenses working at the same time and capturing different areas of the house. It's a very simple idea but with a lot of potential: these cameras have two sensors, one fixed and which captures a large part of our home, and another capable of moving to capture details and follow the movement of people.
A good example of how this technology can help us is in the Xiaomi Smart Camera C500 Dual; This dual indoor camera uses Artificial intelligence in conjunction with both cameras to detect any type of events and track the movement of people in a virtual area that we can define in the application.
The dual camera system of the Smart Camera C500 Dual is very interesting. The bottom camera is fixed and provides a wider viewing angle through the use of a 2.8mm wide-angle lens, allowing you to capture a wide area of 110 degrees. This camera is ideal for capturing a general area, such as the entrance to the house or the children's play area.
The upper camera, for its part, is installed in a 360 degree motorized systemallowing you to cover everything around you and even tilt it to capture the floor or ceiling. In addition, it has a zoom thanks to its 6mm telephoto lens, which allows you to obtain details that could be overlooked with the other camera with a horizontal view of 58 degrees. It is therefore perfect for capturing details such as the hole our pet has entered or a shelf that we want to keep under control.

Both cameras have a resolution of 4 Mpx and have two night vision modes: a color version capable of adapting to low-light environments, and a infrared night vision allowing you to get clear images on dark nights. It also includes a speaker and microphone, allowing you to make video calls with your mobile.
The beauty of dual cameras is the ability to use each camera for different surveillance; or we can even configure both cameras to record the same area and have an extended image that we can enlarge. In the Xiaomi application we can view both cameras at the same time or separatelyand both can be controlled separately, for example with a sleep mode or stopping recording.
The Xiaomi Smart Camera C500 Dual stands out for its functions based on artificial intelligence, which will send notifications to our mobile phone if they detect different events. For example, they can detect if a baby criesif someone has entered a virtual zone that we have defined, or if it detects the presence of a pet. It is also capable of tracking people and sending notifications.
The Xiaomi Smart Camera C500 Dual is available in the Xiaomi Europe store for 79.99 dollars. In addition, we also have the Smart Camera C300 Dual, a very similar model that also has a dual camera system and offers many of its advantages, such as simultaneous viewing of two videos and detection of people and sounds. However, this model does not allow access to advanced functions based on AI, although in exchange its price remains at 59.99 dollars.
