If we want to play again old video gameswhich many of us enjoyed in arcades and on early Nintendo, Sega and Sony consoles, using an emulator is the simplest and most economical. However, the experience is not exactly the same.

If you entered the world of video games with the first consoles to hit the market and you are lucky enough to keep it, you know perfectly well what I am talking about. Sony's PS1 marked a before and after in the field of home entertainment by including multimedia functions, a console that, in the second generation, reached its peak becoming the best-selling console in the world with more than 160 million units sold, a figure that will likely exceed the Nintendo Switch that last November, it had sold more than 145 million.

Enjoy your PS1 games with SuperStation One

If you keep a PS1 with certain titles and you do not want to use it to avoid it no longer working or suffering an accident, we have very good news, since you will be able to enjoy your collection of games again. video games with SuperStation One.

Needless to say, this is obviously not a Sony project. SuperStation One is based on the open source MiSTer FPGA project by YouTuber Taki Udon. It's basically a plate Cyclone V FPGA with 128 MB of SDRAM that allows you to run PlayStation One games natively, that is, without any emulation.

The SuperStation One is made up of the console which includes the hardware necessary to run its games and a disc drive called SuperDock and is sold independently. The console is priced at $149 while the SuperDock is $35.

Like any good FPGA, the SuperStation One is compatible with memory cards which uses the original console. Additionally, it is also compatible with original orderswhich will allow you, if you wish, to use the PS1 controllers that you still own.

In addition to memory card support and original controls, this console also features VGA, HDMI, and composite video output. It also has three USB-A ports, a USB-C port for power delivery, an Ethernet port, a TF card reader, support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC.

In addition, it has a jack port for connecting headphones and a port TOSLINK for digital sound. According to its designer, the SuperDock also has a bay for M.2 2280 SSD drives. It is clear that this project was carried out thinking of everything necessary so that fans of this console can enjoy their games again.

At the moment, the only image we have of this console is of the CPU, not the SuperDock. The total price of the SuperStation One and SuperDock is $184 at market launch, a date we don't know at this time. With the console, a 64 GB SD memory card is included. If you want to know more about this console and know when you can buy it (the first phase of sales sold out immediately), you can take a look at this project from here.
