With the release of the Switch 2, the original switch is not set up equally. Both the sale and support of the platform will continue until further notice.
On the occasion of the announcement of current business figures, Nintendo naturally also commented on the future – and it was not just about Switch 2, but also about what actually happens to the original switch. Although the Switch 2 becomes a direct, more powerful successor to the previous console and is also largely downward compatible, the original switch should not be put straight.
In a conversation, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has now confirmed that the previous switch would be sold – at least as long as there is also demand for the older console. After then the production and the sale of the console continue, it can be assumed that there will be software updates and game releases for the switch until further notice.
Previous rumors would fit in this, according to which there should also be at least one large game blockbuster for the original Switch and not only for the Switch 2. In which time window Nintendo then gradually says goodbye, remains to be seen, at least Such a step is not to be expected in the short term.
