The two main differences I will point out lie in the transition between free and paid. If you don't want to pay for extra storage, iCloud gives you 5 GB of free compared to 2 GB of Dropbox. Payment systems are also very "good" for iCloud Drive. If you are in a position to need more storage and are using Apple devices, then the difference between both services is minimized.
