Oh, modern life and the setbacks it brings … Since the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a debate that has been latent within the community of followers of the game has been none other than an already classic one, that of time travel, which allow players to advance much faster, achieving various goods and functions sooner than they are supposed to be achieved in the game as it was designed.

For that reason, there are some who consider that performing them is synonymous with cheatingIn short, something immoral, while others justify it saying that, although now they have time to play thanks to the almost endless quarantine, they may not have it in the future, so time travel is the most viable option to enjoy the game to the maximum, which in the end is what really matters.

So, this week we come to ask you again, dear readers: Do you take "time travel"? In any case, what opinion do you have about doing it? Do you think it should be a bit of a pain? Do you consider that it should never be done, or do you consider some exceptions to be valid? As usual, the final decision is in your hands, so you know, let's debate!

The coin begins to spin … Do you "travel back in time" in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

The important thing is to have fun

There is no doubt that Animal Crossing: New Horizons It is a game designed so that we can enjoy it for a long period; good proof of this are the waiting times we have to pass in order to advance in the game and develop our island. If we want, for example, to build a bridge or ladder, expand our house or change the location of a property, we have, once the corresponding berries have been paid, that wait for the next day to see it done.

This, added to the fact that the game takes place at the same time as realityIt is interesting to say the least, since it allows us to see how our island is growing and developing, going from being a practically wild place to a small civilization. Now it is true that these waiting times, although necessary if we want to live a more “real” experience of the game, sometimes can become heavy or even become eternal.

For some events to take place, it takes several days; In addition, there are a series of visitors who only visit our island once a week, so we have to be vigilant if we want to see them. Let's be honest, today not everyone has time to play a video game every day, that's why you have to take advantage of when you can, and if that means taking "time travel" to make events progress, I don't see that there is nothing wrong with it.

"Time travel" It can help us get more out of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, since it will allow us to make the game advance at the pace that we want and not vice versa. This does not imply that we want to “spend” it in one day, as can happen with other more conventional titles, but simply that we want to see more of history and further develop our island in the time we have to play.

The important thing is to go little by little

Video games are, in a nutshell, the realization of the creative vision of a studio. As a result of this, there are certain non-explicit rules in all the works whose existence exists to ensure that the player is transmitted the expected sensations during the development time.

This is why, in my opinion, "time travel" in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are a practice that breaks the intention of Nintendo when creating this title. Part of the magic is waiting patiently for your house, museum, or next neighbor to arrive on the island.

Because grace, at least for me, is whate time runs the same in the video game as in reality. If you want to fish all kinds of fish you will have to do it in different locations (sea, river, waterfalls …) and at different times of the day (morning, afternoon and night).

The main reason why I think time travel is because we are seeing Animal Crossing: New Horizons as a "conventional" video game, when in reality, it is not about playing it 10 hours in a row until it ends, but rather enjoying it between one and three hours a day at different times to get the most out of our time invested.

One of the arguments that I have read the most in defense of make "time travel", is that, when you buy the game, you have the right to do what you want with it. This is true, but only in part, since, although everyone has the freedom to play in the way that best suits their free time, I think that you have to have some respect for artistic intention from the author (in this case, the development study).

Vote at your discretion!
