Blurred background of video chat
When video chatting with Skype, you can automatically blur the background to hide unwanted details. We showed how to activate the blur function.
Skype provides an automatic blur filter for the background of video chats. It can be activated before and during the conversation to automatically blur the background of the webcam image. Skype uses an automatic green screen for this, which recognizes the outline of the speaker and separates it from the background. You can use it to blur the Skype background to hide debris or details in your house, because the speakers are easier to recognize due to better contrast or simply for aesthetic reasons.
You can turn on and off the blur filter of the Skype background as needed during the video conversation. If you want to start a Skype conversation against a soft background, you can activate the utility function before calling.
This process is the same for the Skype Windows application and the application pre-installed for Windows 10. The blur function is not available in mobile apps or web apps for iOS and Android.
