There are network cards, which are considered "gaming" like that Kind of a warrior include multiple motherboards, with some software that "enables" network card settings and other Windows 10 parameters to successfully reduce overcrowding in online games. However, not everyone has a network card on motherboards of this type, and today almost no one buys a special network card and we all find out what comes with the board as usual.
However, with the tactics we will talk about next, we can improve the connectivity of our network to reduce, albeit less, online game updates. So, let's go there.
How to reduce lag by optimizing the network card
Remove Windows 10 limitations
Although actually the bandwidth we have does not limit latency, they are the two most interconnected components, so the more bandwidth we have in Internet connection, the better. In Windows 10, for some reason this is limited to the factory, but fortunately we can remove that limit.
To do this, we have to press the WIN + R keys, or right-click on the first icon and select "Run", and we will write gpedit.msc
In the window that opens, we have to show «Computer Configuration», and in this section you should look at Administrator Templates, then on the network, and in this section, we will need a QoS Package scheduler.
Here we have, on the right, the "Limit reservation bandwidth" parameter. Even if it says "Not configured" here, it means it has the default options, and as we'll see in the following screenshot, Windows limited bandwidth reaches 80% by default, so we will get 20% more by logging in with a double click on the parameter and selecting you are "Enabled", and select a category that requires a margin of 0% (then Accept, of course). So we'll be telling Windows 10 to spare no bandwidth and that everything is available to the user.
After applying this change, it may be best to restart the computer, or at least clean up the DNS cache, which is what we will do in the next section.
Clear and deactivate the DNS cache
DNS servers are responsible for resolving names and translating IP addresses, so that connections are more enjoyable for users. However, not all IPs are configured and if we have some DNS server storage, they can significantly reduce the connection to the Internet gaming servers we play, which will increase discrimination.
To clear the DNS cache, we will only need to open "Symbol Symbol" (from scratch -> Uninstall and write CMD, right-click the start button and select "Symbol Symbol" or simply search for it by name in the Windows 10 menu). When the window is open, we'll have to write the following to get the cache removed: ipconfig / flushdns
There is a much broader approach to this, but at the same time it works and can help us not only reduce lag, but also can resolve if we have a connection The standard Internet servers we play. To do this, it is necessary to open Command Prompt again, but you must do it as an administrator. To do this, press the right mouse button to activate, and select "Command Prompt (Administrator)".
Now we'll have to write the following commands, one after the other and press ENTER between each one of them. Remember that, for a while, you will run out of Internet on PC, or eventually you will have to restart to end the process anyway:
ipconfig / issue
ipconfig / refresh
ipconfig / flushdns
netsh reset winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset whole
After entering these five commands, we restart the computer. We managed this not only to clear and clear the DNS cache, but to reset the network card allocation (this may cause IP changes to the LAN if provided by DHCP) and a powerful DLL Windows library for TCP / IP ( Winsock).
Switch DNS servers
As a rule, almost none configure DNS servers manually and uses those assigned automatically by your Internet provider. However, and you can set yourself up and thank you for this you will be able to navigate and connect to game servers that offer small "jumps," since we will be leaving some locations from the provider.
To access this configuration, we have to go into the Windows 10 configuration menu (Windows + I key), go to the "Network and Internet" section, search "Ethernet" in the left menu and click on "Switch Options" adapter ».
In the window that opens, we select our network card, right-click and select Properties. In the window that opens, we should search for “Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP / IPv4) and double click on it.
A new window will be opened, where we can select the bottom of the DNS servers we want to manually install.
Others good DNS which you can use are Google examples (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), those of Level3 (209.244.0.3 and 209.244.0.4) or those of Verisign (64.6.64.6 and 64.6.65.6). Once we have set up the primary and secondary DNS server, we will have to click OK and we will be using it without doing anything else. If you notice that the connection is wrong, you can always come back here and change it or choose the default option you have.
How to know what latency and speed you have
You can start analyzing which IP has the online game servers you are playing and where you want to cut the salad, and you will probably eventually find it after a Google search. However, in general terms, see the speed and ping you have For hosted telecommunications servers is usually enough. In other words, if before following these steps you had, for example, 20ms for ping and then 16 ms, you would know that they had started working.
There are alternatives like if you are a League of Legends player, because playing always tells you what your latency is like (note, in our case we have 34 ms of standard ping and reduced it to 30 ms with these steps, though the development will depend on each PC and each connection, of course).
There are many free online tools for this, but when it comes to viewing network performance, We recommend that you measure the speed of the Internet with this speed test because it is very reliable in Spain.
