The Easter holiday is one of the most important festivals in Germany. Therefore, the business hours of the store are also significantly different. We explain which stores have been open on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

During Easter, the opening hours of supermarkets, bakeries, flower shops, etc. vary greatly. For example, although bakers are allowed to open on Easter Sunday, they must remain closed on Easter Monday. On the other hand, the newsstand is also open on Easter Monday. Good Friday

Good Friday is a national holiday. Therefore, there are no regular stores on this day. Exceptions include bakeries, flower shops, newsstands, gas stations and emergency pharmacies. However, when the opening time is short, especially the bakery and flower shop will open. Depending on the federal state, there are requirements that allow up to five hours of opening. Therefore, you should consult the appropriate dealer separately.

In addition, the corresponding holiday closures do not apply to stores located in train stations or airports-because these areas are usually governed by federal law and are not part of the federal law that regulates the opening hours of German stores. Easter Saturday

The Saturday between Good Friday and Easter Sunday is not a holiday in any federal state. This is why the regular Saturday business hours of the retail industry apply-unless currently different due to corona.

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday is only a legal holiday in Brandenburg. However, since it is Sunday, the general rules for Sundays and public holidays apply nationwide. Therefore, the retailer is also closed on Easter Sunday. However, it is the same as Good Friday.

Easter monday

Different rules apply for Easter Monday. This day is a national holiday. However, compared to the previous days, the baker and florist are not open on this day. Because of the federal closed store law, such exceptions do not apply for two consecutive days. Since the exception already applies to Easter Sunday, it cannot also apply to Easter Monday. Therefore, on Easter Monday, mainly only the train and airport dealers opened. In addition, the newsstand is free.
