In December 2023, Porsche and Aston Martin gave us everything for the new generation Carplay project in standby. As indicated by Car and driver Magazine, luxury car manufacturers have previewed a personalized car system for future car models. More than a year later, we still don't know when they are going to start rolling a lot.
Porsche has announced a Porsche communication management system updated for its series of 2026 911, Taycan, Panamera and Cayenne models, and the Apple's new generation carplay is not found. Porsche describes the system as “more reactive” and more intelligent, including the integrated support for the Alexa assistant from Amazon. Similar to Carplay, which is always supported, the Porsche communication management system also offers “direct access to a large number of applications in different categories”.
Although the press release does not specifically call for new generation Carplay, it is clear that the new Porsche system is not that described by Car and driver. This design includes “a background wallpaper that imitates the brand's distinct seat motif (or Pepita in Porsche-Speak).” The system described here is for infodionance rather than for a complete control of the dashboard.
The next generation of Carplay, as Apple describes it, “assures a co -rasive design experience which is the best of your car and your iPhone – with conceptions for each car manufacturer that express the character and the brand of your vehicle.” It will control vehicle functions such as air conditioning and radio and will offer complete personalization options for each manufacturer.
Apple has not yet officially announced partnerships for new generation Carplay.
