Gaming PCs, especially powerful ones, can be more expensive than consoles, but PCs with flexibility, power, and power are not available in a tournament. Because of this, PC gaming is able to quickly bounce back and away from the styles to give its players an amazing and exciting experience.
Top warning: Unlike our other Essentials list, this one comprises a catalog that has been distributed for many decades, and focuses on 22 games on the platform that we think everyone should play if they want to get the most out of PC games.
Why 22 games though? Anything less makes it harder to slow things down, and the rest can be difficult. Twenty-two games are a solid number of titles, distributed across a wide variety of genres, with a selection of almost every age group.
We wanted to focus on the best in this guide for important releases on PC, so we cast the net further when considering what to include. And heck, if possible, we include a link to our individual game guide, in case you need a little help to get started.
If the list of 22 games at the top is not enough, check out the additional recommendations we throw below for extra effort.
Let's go!
Civilization of Sid Meier 6
In the world of PC gaming, there is a small series that cast a long shadow on civilization. Originally released in 1991, it is a game of historical strategy played in several exchanges, plotting against the computer or other human players.
Players take on the role of famous historical character, leading people in ancient times to enter the space race and beyond. Each entry in the series sounds different, but they all share the same gentle learning curve and an intricate endgame of insight.
But, for my money, you can't go wrong with the latest in the series, Civilization 6. The most recent increase, Rise and Fall, has received rave reviews and is helping to boost the already successful game from a direct experience of civilization.

Control
Critics and actors are impressed with Remedy Entertainment & # 39; s Control, is a third-person action game unlike any other. Here at Polygon, we have called it creativity and technological achievement. While available on modern consoles, the game looks and works very well on a high-end PC, especially if you have an Nvidia RTX video card to enable ray tracing.
Like Jesse Faden, players enter a cruise ship in New York City only to discover the secret that will make the writers of X-Files blush. The gunplay is unique, matched by the sound design and animation animation that made it 6 nominations and one contest at The Game Awards in 2019. But what ties it all together is a funny idea and an uncontrollable issue that rewards exploration and performance equally.
The game can be a little intimidating, especially with its skill trees and some complicated maps. Check out our detailed guidelines section to get started.

Deity: Original Sin 2
Before there were “modern” role-playing games distributed across the platform, RPGs based on existing paper and paper rules were popular on PC. Also called classic RPGs or computers (CRPGs), these games have their roots firmly in tablet space, and inspired an army of fans and competitors.
And, for my money, you can't go wrong Deity: Original Sin 2 as one of the best examples of modernity.
Original sin 2 introduces a world that will feel familiar and completely different to fans of high fantasy. Its latest iteration is wonderfully refined with its top-notch voiceover, and the campaign itself has amazing depth and repetition. You can even block the traditional challenge altogether and unleash the experience in story mode if you just want to focus on the story.
Doom (2016)
Years later The judgmentOriginally released in 1993, some of the subjects of the shooting were simply titled "The judgment clones. "It is fitting, then, that one of the best attackers in the last decade is the reboot of the franchise, which is simply called The judgment.
The reboot was great, in fact, it was Polygon's game of 2016. Here's what we said at the time:
The judgment it's quick. When I first started playing it, I remember thinking that it actually seemed so fast; This is another trick, since the game freezes in a small room before letting you know about the big outdoor play areas. But also a statement: The game informs you that things will be different. (…)
The judgment he had the power to resist years of conventional wisdom, decades of increasing expectations and generations of first-person extinction to go back to the beginning, in order to recapture the shooter who started it all.
The judgment may be a controversial modern FPS, focusing on action and fighting.

Fortress of War
Slaves of War: God of Blood Chapter 2: Fortress of War, better known as Fortress of War, it's an amazing game. The result of the decades-long collaboration between two brothers, Zach Adam and Tarn Adams, is one of the most complex and esoteric works ever made, and performed in ASCII.
In the best-known game mode, players carry a group of locusts that are prepared to build a community from scratch in a hostile world. "Controlling" is a bad word, actually, because young people in sports have their own thoughts and feelings. Players suggest that they simply dig into the mountain and plant a mushroom garden, while the newcomers decide if they can get there.
It doesn't matter if you choose to choose a game, you simply create the world Fortress of War it's an experience that shouldn't be missed if you own a gaming PC. With new opening seconds, the game uses sophisticated systems to produce a 250-square-foot, 250-square-foot space concert.
Remember that, in addition to the imitation of the colony itself, there is another mode in the game: an adventure with a standard player that allows players to test the game process-generated history from ground level.
Fortress of War it's totally free. Donations are, by nature, welcome. As a reward, you may be gifted hand-drawn drawing.

The Old Scrolls 3: Morrowind and The Old Scroll 5: Skyrim
One of the many benefits of PC gaming is being able to get under the hood and tinker with games you already own. There is no better series to satisfy a tinkerer's fix than The Old Scroll. The franchise has embraced the modding community for nearly two decades, and the design team behind it says the decision has had a lot of long-running series and popularity over the years.
Grade 5 Documents: Skyrim serves as an excellent introduction to game moderation, due to its integration with Steam workspace. Easily buy and download the game, and you'll be able to choose from over 28,000 community-created modules that add everything from new skins, items, and quest lines to large battles.
Of course, Skyrim available as a real practical topic it is fully compatible with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, or PlayStation VR for console fans.
For those who want to dig deeper, Grade 3 Volumes: Morrowind offers many hands-on repair experiences. You will need to focus on the actual files of the game itself or download third-party tools to do the job, but the results can be very satisfying. One mod, now 17 years old in production, has also added a universe with much higher ratings, more voice work, and full integration with the game's fast-paced program.

Elite: It's dangerous
The actual sequence Elite, a PC game starting back in 1984, Elite: It's dangerous and The vision the increase is the spiritual boundary of the spiritual preservation of the place.
At the very end of the game is the logical imitation of all 400 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy. No, it's not a typo. The secret is the so-called Stellar Forge, a system developed by Frontier Developmentments that is used to truly make the structure of our galaxy. Using the best available astronomical data, the studio kind of threw all the creations into a digital rock and then went on to print out like an MMO.
Players start out as a poor neighborhood, putting somewhere in the bubble created by human civilization around 3300. While the game's storyline, like it, is currently moving at a high speed for some fans, it's the community that makes the game such a joy to play.
Whether you want to risk life and limbs to save some of your players as a fan of Fuel, participate in multiplayer battles in battle-backed public support, or simply take a weekend funeral on the edge of our road with an unchanged air arm, there is something here for everyone.
Best of all, the game fits perfectly with the headphone tracker, with all the gaming modes, pedals, and the HOTAS set. With an even deeper sense of humor, I suggest playing it in VR.

Fortnite
Listen: Where the original version of Fortnite presented, I hate it.
And I'm not alone. At the time, it was the original $ 40 accessory, which was a multi-player multiplayer feature that no longer works. There were zombies in it. Collected the letters in the form of trading cards, and unlocked abilities in the skill tree. There were a few silly short clicks on the actual type that would hurt my frame after each lesson.
That original version, called Save the Earth, is still in the game. It also has a small, but dedicated, ongoing fan base. But their prices have been completely reduced by fans of War Royale mode, now commonly referred to as “Fortnite.”
Fortnite is the world's largest game due to War Royale. It's more than just a quick follow up Player Battlefields Unknown. It's a powerful world and elements of MinecraftExcellent build plans, but Epic Games also adds a little mystery to the big content of the season that keeps fans guessing next.

Half life
The original Half life tells the story of MIT-trained expert Gordon Freeman and an interim freelance who might one day kill us all. Until PC archers, Half life represents an entry point for every genre, features unimaginable storytelling with a simple and busy finger-action show.
While Gameplay itself is more than uplifting, the actual look and feel leaves something to be desired. Excitedly, the Crusbar group together – themselves a large number of moderators – have formed Black Mesa. Not only is it a reminder of the original game, but it is also an attempt to redistribute it Half lifeThe final, problematic steps include a puzzle that crosses the Xen planet.
Whether you want to play an old or new genre Black Mesa it's up to you, but every PC broadcaster should at least try one or the other at least once.

Metro Exodus
The Metro series, which comes from the 4A Games collection, can be a tough heart to crack.
The first-person gameplay requires patience and a high level of skill. Recent entries in the series, Metro Exodus, it was rock out of the gate. But when you get up to speed with the harsh elements of survival and subtlety, not to mention the weird tone, there's nothing else like it.

Exotic wildlife
Exotic wildlife, Polygon's match for the 2019 season, started as a student project before embarking on a successful fundraising campaign on the Fig platform.
Exotic wildlife it's about anonymous checks, but something is being held. The pocket-sized solar system works with a 22-minute entry. Each cycle ends when the player wakes up, so everything seems to reset, except for the knowledge they have gained by exploring the space and its planets. Why this happens, and what a player should do to fix things, make it one of the most intriguing of all games.

Return of Obra Dinn
Like an old murder story, Return of Obra Dinn it creates a complex mystery, organized by people, intentions, secrets, and lies. But it surpasses all conventions by giving indirect attention to all the nooks and crannies of the symbols of its complex execution.
The story is set in the first 19th-century merchant ship from port in five years after being reported missing, presumed lost at sea. The ship is deprived of human life. My job is to board a ship and see what happened. Recently I came across some evidence that the trip was on. Muscles, explosive strings, and dislocations all add up to … what?
Obra Dinn it features a monochromatic art style inspired by the original Macintosh game, but it also has a full triple range of motion and visual effects. As a player, you deduct insurance coverage from The Sail Years who receives limited control from time to time. The game requires attention to the detail and ingenuity of the player to get to the bottom of what happened to each character, while always entertaining them with the story and the design that gradually evokes the sounds and violence.
In his brilliant review, our Colin Campbell concluded that Obra Dinn "It's not just a good game, it's a work of great wisdom and creativity."

Warframe
This science fiction runner includes a third-person action too Easily-style acrobatics with realistic and realistic MMO programs to build a clear community of players. And it's more approachable than ever.
& # 39; Tenno & # 39; is the name used for the character of the player, who awakens from the sleeping army only to be quickly thrown into disputes with the Griner. Fortunately, my Warframe drags me into battle, and I am helped by a kind Lotus. Confused at all the proper nouns? It takes a while to find the size and width of WarframeIt's a plan, but that's not important. Most of them are pretty typical sci-fi stuff – an old paralyzed empire, teams of this kingdom are now at war, and I'm a powerful card inserted. But there it is a twist that you shouldn't make your own money to play.
Which of course means that I open up a lot of festivals with variable purposes and then jump and jump into a ninja. WarframeFighting is a real pleasure. Travel is fast, humid, and deadly. Each blow can have a huge effect – I'm excited about pulling an arrow and shooting it directly at the enemy's head, where he then recovers and is pinned to the wall. Melee attacks come with a satisfying sound effect and a flash of flash, as well as snappy animation.

Postman 3: Wild Hunt
Years after it was released, Postman 3: Wild Hunt still stands as a major breakthrough in today's video game design.
Much has been written about the long quest for the game and how the series uses player decisions to make meaningful changes in the game world over time. As such, it is standard gold in digital gaming. But where Author 3 it really shines on the PC in giving it a glorious eye-popping look. From rich and versatile sky boxes to the natural and character art itself, Author 3 looks better on a PC, with longer drawing lines and higher resolutions than it could elsewhere.
As such, the four-year title is actually a benefit. You will spend far less on a high-quality graphics card than you had when the game was first released.

The World of War
A great online multiplayer multiplayer game standing on the shoulders of giants like Ultima and EverQuest, The World of War has continued to reinvent itself for more than 15 years, and has recently gone back in time to try to rekindle the interest of players who may have left the game.
Also Yeah it continues to have a prosperous society, even though the total number of players sometimes goes up and down. Whether you are coming to Azeroth solo or with a group of close friends, you do not need to have fun alone.
XCOM 2: Battle of the Chosen
Turn-based strategy games are just another example of every PC-born genre. I can't think of a better example War of the Elected, the most prominent 2017 expansion of the XCOM 2.
The style of the game is simple, even if the strategy is not: Take a small group of heavily-armed Commandos and go the hard way, taking turns moving or attacking an enemy trying to stop, to achieve some kind of purpose.
Where War of the Elected Exels, however, in its world building and storytelling. Not only does it depend on the good reboot made by the Firaxis Games, XCOM: Unknown Enemy, includes some interesting characters. To make things more fun, the vocal artists are all famous from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
In my review, I called it the "XCOM experience," and that is as true today as they were presented.
