All previous Soulslike games from developer FromSoftware have a multiplayer mode. This statement could be right soon. At least when the modder LukeYui publishes his "Sekiro Online" project for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which he presented on YouTube in the last few days.
He has developed his own netcode and wants to allow you to play the action game with other players. That that already works he demonstrates in his videos. We embedded the latest for you at the beginning of this news.
Where's the download? LukeYui has not yet published the multiplayer mod »Sekiro Online«. Accordingly, you cannot currently try them out yourself. On his YouTube channel, however, he shows the development progress with regular updates.
The MP-Mod can
- Co-op with a friend: You will be able to travel the world of Sekiro with another player.
- Game synchronization: The main achievement was to synchronize the events in both game instances. With both players, the opponents are in the same positions and carry out the same attacks.
- PvP mode: The newest feature of the mod is a working PvP. So you can also fight with other players.
- Number of players: So far, a maximum of two players are active in the videos at the same time. There is no information about the maximum number of players yet.
The videos show that the project is still in an early stage of development. However, it does steady progress. While the two characters only saw each other in the first video, but could not interact with each other, in the latest from April 11, 2020 they can even use the tools of the prosthesis to damage themselves and ward off attacks.

What else can you do with mods in Sekiro?
The multiplayer mod should be one of the most ambitious projects for the action game from FromSoftware. However, there are also other fan extensions, which also ensure long-term fun in the otherwise very linear title.
For example, you can play Sekiro completely in first-person perspective, or try a boss rush mode. Those who find the game too difficult, on the other hand, lower the level of difficulty. On the other hand, if you like it really hard, all opponents are turned into the final boss.
There will be no Sekiro 2 according to current plans. The development team is currently working on The Elden Ring, which is being created in collaboration with the author George R. R. Martin. Since an information load shortly after its announcement, there has been little new to the project.
