One of the biggest surprises we had during The recent presentation of the new game of Marathon developed by Bungie It was to find out that this will not be a free game. The majority of games as a service today are free and are supported by microtransactions, while those who choose to put a price run the risk of being a failure as happened to Concord In 2024.
While the debates about it abound in social networks and Internet forums, the game director decided to rule on the matter. During a discussion about his work in el podcast Friends per Second de Skill UpJoe Ziegler de Bungie explained the alleged logic of the study to decide to make a payment title.
You can see the episode of said podcast below. It is in English, but below you can find our translation of what he said.
Ziegler commented that “We hope that what we show is exciting enough for someone to decide 'make the jump' with us, but we are also committed to creating seasons that offer continuous evolutions to the game without increasing the initial price”.
Then he added that «What we hope everyone understands about the game is that we are committed to doing something amazing and we believe we have a very strong start point. All have their own definition of what is the right price ».
As you can see, it is a very little compromising answer in which it really did not say much apart from suggesting that “our game is worth it.” Of course, the order that the game is probably not comes from Bungie, but from Sony.
Even more surprising it turns out that we do not know what the price it will have Marathononly it will not be a free game. Some bet that it will cost around $ 40 (around 170,000 Colombian pesos). We will have to wait for them to say something officially. With luck, it will not be as disastrous as Concord.
Marathon The September 23, 2025 For PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC. It will have a cross game between the three platforms.
