On the web we have already told you about the indie title Sword of the Necromancer, which is planned for Nintendo Switch. He recently launched his funding campaign in Kickstarter, where it is being very well received by fans interested in this promising game. However, it seems that they have recently been affected by too frequent a practice on this financing platform.
After reaching the first funding objective on the platform, those responsible for the game went on to announce the following objectives to continue raising funds for the project. This announcement occurred last Friday and on Saturday they received an anonymous pledge for a value of € 8,500.
It was undoubtedly a large sum with which they could exceed the two objectives set at that time. However, the fact that the backer didn't even choose the reward made Grimorio of Games suspicious. They were convinced because he had no name, because of the amount of money he donated, and because he did not claim his reward.
For this reason, they suspected that this troll would withdraw that money at any time to harm those responsible, since they would be forced to cancel any of their objectives. The developers waited until they achieved the first of the two pending objectives, which was a song by Dale North, by Wizard of Legend, and Emi Evans, by Nier Automata.
Finally they achieved this goal and went on to announce it to the followers. At 5 minutes the troll withdrew its € 8,500 and in this way the Kickstarter was left with just over € 25,000 and they had to cancel the other objective, which was an extra mode for the game. In this way, they were forced to teach a stretch goal ahead of time, something that can affect the rhythm of the campaign.
In the project updates you have more information about it, and you can also contribute if you are interested. You will find it in this link.
According to what was shared by those responsible for Sword of the Necromancer, these types of actions often repeated on Kickstarter unfortunately, so it is certainly necessary to raise awareness of how important these campaigns are for developers and thus avoid this type of trolls.
What do you think about that? Do not hesitate to leave it in the comments.
