We cannot say that we are unfortunately surprised by the development of a company like this Yangtze in the world of NAND Flash. We have talked many times about how the boom in China has not waned and how some giants in the sector have been apparently unable to keep up.
Not even Samsung, the leader so far in the industry, seems to be able to push a supporter against its new rivals.
SSDs and future RAMs will integrate Chinese chips
If we can get something clear from the introduction of the new X2-6070 chips based on the 128-layer NAND Flash 3D QLC with 1.33 Tb capacity, it's that Yangtze is here to stay. Its Xtacking architecture shows more development and competition than its competitors, and it already has 128 chips and 512 Gb TLC views through the new X2-9060.
We're talking about a meteoric race that conceived in 2018 and that after only two years of production you can already produce chips of this figure with speeds of up to 3 Gbps of I / O.
Although these speeds are reserved for certain chips, YMTC has revealed that the new X2-6070 and X2-9060 countries offer 1.6 Gbps and operate at just 1.2V volume.
This allows them to enter the consumer market with all the guarantees to compete fiercely with other manufacturers and in the capacity they can offer their products to companies dedicated to cloud storage.
China does not stop here and will continue to push into the PLC
The 128 layers in the QLC are just the first step for YMTC. As we well know, the company is part of Tsinghua Unigroup, receiving "help" from the government and when they cleverly manufactured the machines in Wuham, directly at the factory XMC, the company that the group acquired to acquire patents, facilities and technology.
"Nationalization" meant that YMTC had one of the largest indoor plumbing plants in China and, ironically, already working with Xtacking.

Unfortunately, this is just another example of many where China is outsourcing its companies and, most of all, its technology is quiet and global. Not surprisingly, it has different open borders with the US as it is Huawei and the next one is expected to be somehow Xiaomi. We'll see how it affects how the YMTC eventually takes on such an important stage as the NAND Flash and what will be the reaction of the United States and the European Union to this challenge.
