After a wild trip through China, the race around the world warms up and next week, a team will unfortunately leave the competition for good.
As it was in previous years, the last pair to reach the next checkpoint will be eliminated. If you have passed earlier this week, you will know that certain turbulent weather conditions have caused chaos for the second control point, which could arouse problems for those left behind.
The BBC, of course, has not revealed who would get the chop – we will only know with certainty that episode three is broadcast next Wednesday May 7. However, I found three very clear signs that seem to indicate which competitors will not go ahead.
Typhoon disorder
Three teams came to control two in Sanya. These are sisters Elizabeth and Letitia, who managed to maintain their lead. The Brothers Brian and Melvyn, who jumped second in the fourth. And finally, the young couple, fine and sionné.
Two pairs were still in the race for the return match. It is the mother and the son, Caroline and Tom, and formerly a married couple, gas and yin. Unfortunately, this last team is in a very worse position than the first.

Caroline and Tom arrived on the island of Hainan, so they crossed the ocean and just need to find a bed for the night before leaving as soon as he is sure to do it, which could be very early in the morning. Gas and Yin, however, are trapped on the continent, without any signs of knowing when the ferry will go.
Unless Caroline and Tom do not find transport on the island, it seems unlikely that Gaz and Yin can catch up – and there will be a huge gap between them and the first finish.
It is a real shame, because time is out of their control and the other teams have managed to cross the sea in time, but it is the brutality of the race around the world.
Trailers say everything
If you look at the trailer for the end of episode 1 on BBC Iplayer, you will see clips from Nepal and India. In the images, there is a couple who are obviously not in any of these countries.
Yes, it's yin and gas.
We can see Brian and Melvin playing cricket in what looks like India, Caroline enforcing a Bhindi and saying “look at this place” with a Jaipur shot, Rajasthan (although, of course, the latter could be a blow from another couple).
Elizabeth and Letitia are on a bus tour – I used Google Lens on the bus in front, and this seems to be in Nepal, which is only only to CheckPoint Four – so after the episode of next week, which, according to the road presented in episode one, seems to keep the teams in China.
End and Sioné are pending in the first trailer seated near a road, which has the “Bithoor” sign, a city in India.
The only new blow that we have seen from gas and yin since the end of the trailer of the first episode is that they run on a bridge, and they seem to be wet … maybe in the rain of the typhoon?
So, unless the publishers use intelligent tips to mislead us, it seems likely that Gaz and Yin will not pass the checkpoint three.
Their story has already been told
Certain pairs, such as Brian and Melvyn, are not entirely immersed in some of the most emotional parts of their background frame – their driving force for having come around the world in the first place.
BBC / Studio Lambert
But Yin and Gas did it, in episode two. They discussed how their daughter, in the fall, saw him as a last adventure for her parents, and how this show was difficult for them because they would miss his birthday for the very first time.
As a divorced couple, it was very refreshing to see the pair think about their marriage while remaining close friends – a unique link.
The producers like to distribute these emotional moments throughout the series, and it would be logical to place the yin and gas earlier if they are one episode.
The race through the World Series 5 continues next Wednesday at 9 p.m. BST on BBC One and BBC IPlayer.
