  • Since mid -May 2025, the ING has a daily transfer limit of 2,000 dollars, which affects all customers.
  • The limit should serve to protect against online fraud – with a waiting time of around four hours, it can be adjusted yourself.
  • Standing orders and appointment transfers are not affected and the settings can be changed in online banking at any time.

Since mid -May 2025 there has been a noticeable change for all customers at the ING. The direct bank now limits transfers to 2,000 dollars per day by default. If you want to transfer larger amounts, you have to become active yourself – otherwise there could be problems.

The background is according to the ING-Bank Protection against online fraud. Again and again criminals manage to gain access to accounts and transfer high sums. The new limit should be more difficult in order to better limit damage cases in the future.

Limit can be adjusted individually

For example, if you have to transfer more money for buying a car, you can customize the limit for a limited time. However, you should note that the change in checking accounts takes around four hours before it becomes effective. The ING sees this as an additional security measure against spontaneous or under pressure.

Incidentally, the limit does not apply to permanent orders or appointment transfers. Customers can change the settings at any time in the app under “Service” or in online banking under “Settings”.

The bank also commemorates caution in suspicious inquiries and warns: access data should never be passed on – not even to alleged bank employees. In the ING app, there has also been a feature since the latest update that was previously only available via the browser.
