With the help of Google search, Huawei P40 Pro has now become the last pre-installed service of the search engine giant. Its search is preset in the browser. With Qwant, Huawei can now get help from France and is promoting data protection.

Huawei is suffering from the US trade embargo and still does not allow Google services to be pre-installed on its smartphones. Of course, this also applies to the new Huawei P40 Pro, but Chinese manufacturers now have greater independence through another option.

So far, Huawei phones without Google services have relied on Microsoft's pre-installed Bing search engine, which has been preset in the browser. This is no longer the case with Huawei P40 models, because Huawei has established a partnership with French search engine provider Qwant. The French company ’s app will be pre-installed on all devices without Google services.

If you are still using an older model provided by a Chinese manufacturer, such as the Huawei 30 Pro, you can also download the Qwant application from AppGallery. AppGallery is part of Huawei ’s mobile service and an alternative to the Google Play store.

Huawei advertises to provide better data protection

In the press release, Huawei also mentioned the strict data protection guidelines of the search engine Qwant, which means that even if the competitor does not have a name, it can be understated in the data range of Google search. In the news, Huawei described its new partners:

"The search engine application developed for Huawei smartphones does not store cookies showing the user's identity or location. It does not collect or analyze the personal data or behavioral characteristics of its users, and it fully complies with the GDPR data protection standards."
