How to save your WhatsApp chats in iCloud

chats, iCloud, Save, WhatsApp

WhatsApp is iCloud

A few years ago I discovered that Telegram was one step ahead of WhatsApp. I can use it on different devices, even on the Apple Watch. I campaigned for all your contacts to go to Telegram, and try to block the green sign. It was impossible.

Today WhatsApp remains the master of chat applications, though not yet Telegrams. Assuming you are a regular user, I explain how to make iCloud backup for your conversations, so that they are safe.

Today WhatsApp has become one of the most important means of communication between mobile devices. Almost all smartphone users use this app to chat. Many times in these conversations we keep data we check, whether it's dates, locations, directions, or many other things we don't need to remember because we know they are "there." If we want to keep a backup copy of our conversations in iCloud, we must take some steps.

The Messages app automatically copies iCloud. However, third-party messaging services such as WhatsApp take a very different approach when it comes to supporting your conversations. Let's take a look how to use Apple's iCloud to back up all your WhatsApp messages and media, to prevent the accidental loss of such information, due to a malicious software update, for example, or to uninstall the application. That should be remembered WhatsApp saves your chat history on the device, not on your servers.

ICloud Settings

How to enable iCloud Drive for backing up WhatsApp data

Before backing up conversations, you must make sure iCloud Drive is enabled on our iPhone. Although iCloud backup is enabled, it doesn't mean that iCloud Drive is also enabled, because they're both different.

  1. Open the settings on your iPhone.
  2. Touch your name above to enter your Apple ID.
  3. Touch iCloud.
  4. Pull the screen down and make sure Cloud Drive is green.
  5. Keep going down and make sure WhatsApp is also green.

Now that you have iCloud Drive enabled, you can choose to make a backup instantly or edit them automatically.

  1. Open WhatsApp on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Settings, bottom right.
  3. Play in the Cats.
  4. Touch Backup.
  5. If you want to make a copy immediately, touch Make a copy now.
  6. If you would like to edit your copies, touch Auto copy.
  7. Choose if you want a daily, weekly, monthly, or do not want to make regular copies.

It's all ready. From now on, even if you uninstall the app, and reinstall it later (mobile change, for example), you can restore your WhatsApp chats, photos and videos.
