Recently, two tweets have already indicated it, now we obviously have certainty: The graphics card-melting classic shooter Crysis from 2007 gets a remaster!
According to a leak from the official website of developer Crytek, the new edition will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and even for the Nintendo Switch, but there is still no exact release date.
According to the leak, Crysis Remastered should offer a whole load of state-of-the-art technology, with the help of which the game world should shine in new splendor. Among other things, Crytek promises for the new edition Raytracing for the PC version. Exactly it says in the leak that Crysis Remastered should offer an "API-agnostic ray tracing solution".
"Crysis Remastered brings new graphic features, high-quality textures, and the CRYENGINE's native hardware and API-agnostic ray tracing solution for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and – for the very first time – Nintendo Switch."

In the meantime, the Crysis.com homepage no longer shows any information. We only get to see a video of Nomad in his nanosuit in a continuous loop.
How good could Crysis Remastered look?
The graphical possibilities of Crysis Remastered could, at least in theory, already illustrate a tech trailer for Cryengine 5.6 from August 2019. From minute 2:17 the video shows how many details a forest in the Cryengine can come with. Maybe that gives you a little glimpse of the tropical jungle game world of Crysis:
After many years, PC players will finally have to ask themselves again when buying a new computer: "But can it run crysis?" However, nothing is known about the system requirements of Crysis Remastered if you are wondering.
The original Crysis impressed in 2007 as a graphic milestone and received a top rating of 94 in our GameStar test. In the past 13 years, however, PC hardware and the graphic possibilities of video games have developed quite a bit.
Here are a few impressions with landscapes from Crysis in the current engine:
By the way, we already demanded that Crysis deserve a remaster including ray tracing in October 2019. In our video about 10 classic games that deserve a new RTX edition, we clarify why Crysis is so suitable for technical improvements. Maybe the developers at Crytek watched the video and said "right, let's do it" – so be happy, dear GameStar readers.
