How are the recording of WhatsApp video recorded?

First, before recording any video call on WhatsApp you should respect the privacy of other people who will participate. In Spain it is allowed to record them, but it is recommended that you notify other video call participants so that they at least know that everything they do will be recorded on your mobile phone.

After looking at these details, it should be noted that WhatsApp has no traditional functionality that lets you record video calls that you keep in your application. For this reason, you should go to third-party apps to record and save those video leaders, which will cause some obstacles.

The main problem is that, for those phones with Android 9 Pie version or higher, Google does not allow external apps to record internal audio, they can only record audio from a mobile microphone. That sound from the microphone in question is used by WhatsApp during video calls, so recording applications cannot access the internal audio or microphone. In short, the sound of WhatsApp video calls cannot be recorded, only the video.

Once you've mastered this knowledge by recording video calls in the app, it's time to know how to record it. Lacking the traditional WhatsApp function, you should record the screen of your Android phone while making a video call. For us, we will do it with the AZ Screen Recorder app, but in the Play Store you can find other apps like Mobizen or Game Screen Recorder.

Next, we explain you step by step how to record a WhatsApp video with the AZ Screen Recorder app (all other apps work the same).

1- Turn on the AZ Screen Recorder again accepts all permissions required by the application efficiency: access files on your device, record audio and show up on other applications, most importantly a floating button to appear to make recording easier.

2nd- Install WhatsApp once Configure the video call you want to record: If it's an individual, access a chat with a contact and, if it's a group video call, you can create a group containing the contacts you want to make.

3º- When the video call is ready, set up a notification bar again click the video camera button to start recording. You can also do it by clicking the red floating button on the video camera.

4º- A notification will pop up letting you know that the app will record everything that is displayed on the screen. Click on "Start Now" and the countdown for 3 seconds before recording is sure to start. Use that opportunity to start a video call on WhatsApp and make sure this is recorded from scratch.

5th- To stop recording a video call, just in case call the notification bar and click the stop button, represented by a square. Therefore, the video call recording video will be saved in the AZ Screen Recorder gallery and on your mobile phone. You can watch it whenever you want to return a WhatsApp video call, of course, remembering that the audio cannot be recorded.

As long as Android doesn't change its policies regarding recording apps screen and phones for Android 9 or higher, recording WhatsApp video calls on the phone of one of those versions should have the conditions we described in the previous sections. If you have a phone with a lower version of Android, you usually don't get this ban from Google and have no problems with recording video calls on WhatsApp.
