Pokémon GoThe January events will include the addition of Shadow Moltres to the game, as well as the return of the Legendary Pokémon Heatran.
In January there will be another Team Rocket Special Research to do, this time to benefit Star Shot Moltres once you've hit Giovanni. The measures will probably be similar to the December Special Study.
The January Prize for Startup Design will be through Lapras with Ice Shard or Ice Beam. Both Ice Shard and Ice Beam are moving gems from 2018, and this is the first time they've been there ever since. Unfortunately, Lapras is not part of an attacker or gymnast, and works well with Frost Breath and Blizzard (two unlocked movements after the event). Modify any of these Ice Shard or Ice Beam moves to satisfy your anonymous Pokémon collection needs.
Heatran, known as the Legendary fire- and Pokémon type metal in the Sinoh region, will be returning to the attack on January 7, with a chance to appear as Shiny.

From Jan 2 2 until Jan 16, players will be able to receive exclusive rewards for doing Adventure Sync for travel during this year's Hatchathon. Players will receive extra Stardust, Rare Candies, and even Unova Stone for more travel. Special Pokémon wearing party hats will be pulling from eggs and wild during the event.
