OnePlus is not the kind of company that hides what its smartphones will be called for before it is unveiled which allowed us to launch its new OnePlus 8 last week, in line with its announcement.
Perhaps the only surprise is that there are only two OnePlus 8 models to choose from. The rumored OnePlus 8 Lite may arrive the next day, but for now, you can choose between the OnePlus 8 Pro and the one we discuss below.
As expected, the OnePlus 8 misses a few things that Pro has, but it's still a great option for those who want a smart enough Android phone (they carry the same processor).
Wonderful display
OnePlus announced its 120 Hz Fluid Display in January, meaning that all phones this year will meet this specification. Yes, in the case of OnePlus 8 it should be stable at 90 Hz which is wrong, which is the same as the 7T model.

OnePlus users may want the latest and greatest technology, but it must be acknowledged that the difference between 90 and 120 Hz is small, so the experience remains the same and very smooth, resulting in better time data. battery.
Another common missing feature is the Quad HD + solution, and instead it is resolved by Full HD +. But, if again, we're not overly concerned about this, as the screen still looks very sharp and this low resolution favors other features.
No matter whether the Pro will tempt you or not, the OnePlus 8's screen is really good, with high quality comparisons, color accuracy, and HDR10 + content viewing support.
In line with other competitors on the market, its screen is 6.55 centimeters but with a 20: 9 aspect ratio (the Pro is even 6.7 inches). Although it is high in size, it helps with its grip and handling with one hand.
If you like smaller phones, now that Apple has introduced its iPhone SE 2020, OnePlus may have kept the ace up its sleeve with its OnePlus 8 Lite, which we'll have to wait a while.
A few things to complete this section of the screen is that there is still a fingerprint scanner on the screen, which works well on the bottom and shows you the hotspot on the screen. OnePlus also switched to the camera mounted on the left in front of it.

The cameras are good but not by phone
Based on the fact that the specs of today's smartphone cameras seem to have recovered a bit, with 100 MP or x100 zoom sensors, OnePlus has chosen to keep things simple and functional.

Ultra wide-angle camera is unique and of the same quality and is very useful if you want to maximize the viewing angle quickly. We find for example that the saturation of the color with this sensor is slightly lower, improving the effect.
To avoid distortion in photos, the mobile phone has active lens adjustments. The camera app offers x2 zoom, but it's not a separate lens as it simply takes care of the larger sensor.

We are surprised that macro functionality is not part of a larger visual menu, something you will find on display and landscape nights. Instead, it's on top of the app, next to flash settings and times.
The 16 MP selfie camera offers great results, whether you use it in standard or direct mode. Although you are on the left of the screen, it does not affect the angle view.
OnePlus notes that when using selfie mode, a white ring flashes around the sensor mounted on the screen, indicating that this grip is used.
In the video segment, the OnePlus 8 can take 4K resolution resolution with 60 fps, but if you choose to activate & # 39; Super Stable & # 39; and & # 39; Time-lapse & # 39; recording limited to 30 fps at 1080p or 4K resolution. Fitness is excellent even at 1080p with a 30fps quality.

Working
We start from the fact that OnePlus 8 has the same chipset and internal components as the Pro, so it works with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 865 processor, indicating that it adds support for 5G technology.
The model we tested has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, though it is also possible to purchase a model with 8 GB of low RAM storage and 128 GB of low € 100.
We said they have the same components, but that's not entirely true, since the OnePlus 8 has DDR4 type memory, while the Pro type DDR5 is much faster. The storage is UFS 3.0.

Android and O oxygen OS

As you may have seen in the review, we encountered a few OnePlus 8 variants, but just a little, with things like screen size, feature rating, and colors are undeniable.

That's a list of very exciting developments that clearly allow the € 200 you pay more, but if what you care about both are on screen, the difference between the two is overlooked, so stick with OnePlus 8.
