Like other conventions before, the San Diego Comic Con has been cancelled this year.
This is the first time in 50 years, San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) has been cancelled.
The organizers of the annual event have announced that there will be no Comic-Con in 2020. The SDCC will return July 22-25, 2021.
Participants in those events hoped to reduce their concerns about COVID-19 by summer, but due to the recent health consultation and the California Governor ’s statement, the organizers made it clear that “Advancing this year ’s plan is not safe.
The SDCC also announced that individuals who purchase badges for the event can request a refund or transfer their badges to Comic-Con 2021.
All 2020 badge holders will receive an email next week with instructions on how to apply for a refund. Comic-Con's official hotel affiliate onPeak will also cancel all hotel reservations and refund all reservations made through it. Officials say that people who make reservations through the service do not need to request a refund or cancel the reservation because the process will be processed automatically.
Similarly, the WonderCon Anaheim meeting originally scheduled for April 10-12 will return to the Anaheim Convention Center from March 26-28, 2021.
