Back in 1993, while arcade games were still playing a major role in the video game industry, Sega AM3 released the title SegaSonic and the Hedgehog. The platformer-action game has been compared Madness of the Mabula and it was the first time that players had been introduced to Power Armadillo and Ray the Flying squirrel.
The game is also a Japanese specialty, and while the ports and re-releases were considered years ago, none of them saw the light of day. That can all change, though, according to José Okunari of Sega. In an interview earlier this year with It's a game to watch, means its possible return.
While the Sega Ages development team has no plans to add any more Sonic the Hedgehog games at this point in time – or Puyo Puyo articles, are always open to many. It all depends on whether the fans support the existing one. Also, if there is enough love (in terms of sales) – there might be a chance for Sonic's arcade entry to make a return. It is not the first time Okunari has said something like this.
