Valorant – Preview: DAS will be the next big multiplayer shooter
The release for Riot's new tactical shooter Valorant is planned for summer 2020. Since April 7, 2020, start time 2 p.m., you can participate in a closed beta. We will explain how to get the access keys via Twitch Drops.
How can I participate in the beta?
Step 1 – Beta keys only via Twitch drop: The keys for access to the closed beta can only be obtained via Twitch Drops, i.e. by watching streamers that broadcast the game live. Any streamer playing Valorant can now activate the key drops. If you're lucky, you'll get beta access as a reward for staying tuned. Of course, you have to have a Twitch account to have the chance.
Step 2 – create a Valorant account: If you want to play Valorant, you also need a (free) riot account, which you can use to register. If you don't already have one: You can create an account on the official Valorant website.
Step 3 – linking the two accounts: If you win a beta key, you have to link the two accounts. You can do this easily by going to this account link at Twitch.
Is there a preload?
Yes, Valorant can already be downloaded without a beta key! So you can definitely download the game for free, then you can get started as soon as possible when you get access. In addition, you are well prepared for the final release of the shooter, which should take place during the summer.
Which streamers do I get Twitch Drops from?
At Twitch you will find a list of all currently running Valorant streams. Initially, Riot only allowed certain streamers to activate the drops, but now anyone who plays Valorant can do that.
Important: Make sure that the stream is really live – some streamers let old recordings run and lure you with claims in the title that you can get key drops here. You should also pay attention to the drop icon in the stream, so that you can ensure that keys are actually being distributed.
How long will the beta continue?
The exact duration of the beta is still unknown, but according to Riot it will continue for at least a few weeks. It may even run until the final release of Valorant. According to the current status, we can expect this between July and September 2020. It may also be that the closed beta initially goes into an open beta phase.
This may also only be decided during the test phase. Keys are still distributed around the clock. If the drops don't work out right away, it's definitely worth trying your luck again in the coming days. Riot has already increased server capacities.

That's what makes Valorant so exciting
The new shooter from LoL developer Riot wants to shake up the genre and to outpace well-known genre representatives such as CS: GO and Overwatch.
