DC Comics Guide to 52 Universe Universe and Batmen Unique

Batmen, Comics, guide, unique, Universe

Here at Polygon, we refuse to be limited to our will. While others celebrated Earth Day in praise of One Earth, we decided to sing 52 global songs. Specifically, 52 different DC Comics worlds.

An interactive web of parallel worlds is a common form of superhero comics that has made it all the way to the big screen in Avengers: Endgame, and you'll receive a higher charge Dr. Strange in Multi Various of Madness. And while DC Comics may have gone along with the idea of keeping a single timeline for a decade or more, workers at the superhero publisher have been moving back to the editorial freedom of many different characters – as it should, because it was DC Comics writer and editors who first connected the same world with superheroes in the first place.

While Marvel Comics uses an equally glorious unlimited world-class program, DC Comics arrives at a cozy 52. (Why 52? The short and true answer is the number of weeks in the year. The long answer is long.) And while all the worlds deserve praise on Earth Day, not all 52 worlds are created equal.

In fact, many of these Earths are very good ancestors. There are many worlds of the Elseworlds series that give three answers no one remembers, while the higher settings are like Guards, The DC animated Universe, and the entire Milestone universe are not established among many. Obviously, it's up to us to reduce the wheat to the wheat.

These are the 52 different DC Comics Worlds, numbered. Starting with the number 53. This will eventually make sense, and it's Scott Snyder's fault.

53-41. Earth-23, -24, -27, -28, -29, -35, -36, -41, -42, -45, -46. -47, and 49

Crossing the bottom line altogether is this baker's sum of uncompressed Earth. Some of them it is possible known in settings, such as The Justice Guards Universal, but has not yet been officially launched.

Hi, Earth-23, -24, -27-29, -35, -36, -41, -42, -45-47, and -49? Call me when you have symptoms ready.

40. Land 38

Set above the ground that is not completely rooted in the world is a world in which we are united with one character, which emerges, as one subject. Captain Atom of Earth 38 originated in DC Calculation young and excellent workers will never again.

It's meant to be the best follow-up to the year DC 52 employees, Calculation had to set up a table for Grant Morrison Final Issue, but it seems like … it's not doing well at all and many of its events are ignored or turned off. And yet, there is still a reason to have these three known worlds.

39. Land 39

Related Transactions: The Blue Beetle of Earth-39 was another one Calculation A child who receives the full number of variants.

38. Land-7

In DC's main world, Courtney Whitmore is a hero known as Stargirl, but Courtney Whitmore of Earth-7 is about a mature Star. She appeared in a Calculation also extract all available record of our existence.

37. Earth-14

The home of Justice Assassins, a group of techno-augmented killers equal to members of the Justice League. They had a lot of guns and ammunition and have previously appeared in the 2017 & # 39; Superman # 15, where they died.

36. Land-34

And now, some Elseworlds books. In theory, Elsewords articles should mean that the story doesn't go by the DC Multiverse list, and that several Elseworld books have named the Universe. Like Earth-34, the suspense is the number one issue in which Wonder Woman frees England from its ruling king, Jack the Ripper.

35. Land-37

The whole atmosphere of another 1997 one-shot I have never heard before: Thrillkiller. Bruce Wayne police and Robin and Batgirl fight crime.

34. Land 32

The Darkest Knight, The story of the Elseworlds in which Bruce Wayne becomes the Green Lantern of Earth instead of Hal Jordan, is written by Mike W. Barr and therefore probably pure. But do we really need to give it to the World?

33. Land-40

Photo: Matt Hollingsworth, Tony Harris / DC Comics

On Earth-40, the Justice Society of America are government employees who fought in World War II instead of civilian heroes. Based on these two EJSA: Freedom Files letters from the beginning of & # 39; 00s. No, I don't remember them.

32. Land-9

It's home to characters from the Tangent Comics adaptation of the 1990s, where writers and artists were invited to reprint DC Comics characters based solely on their name. The rankings are higher than Earth-40 only because of the prominence of the concept, not because of the marked increase.

31. Land-1

World-1 layout of Superman: The First World, Batman: The same world, Teen Titans: First World, Wonder Woman: The First World, again Green Lantern: First World graphic novels. The Earth One imprint has given writers and artists the opportunity to rewrite the first DC stories of modern viewers, with a greater emphasis on the "real" – or whatever the truth is in the best possible scenario. Turns out it's been 10 years this year, and it's never been a touchstone.

30. Land-17

Judging by the slender appearance, Earth-17 seems to be the universe where the reigns of darkness and the Justice League, or more like them, become riders of his wardog. Ideal points, but we didn't really see the two panels.

29. Land-33

A world where everyone is the same but magic takes the place of science. You have your Bat-Mage, your real Oracle, and your Kal-El, which is the Kryptonian "Magicks." The remodeling of Earth-33 is a cool concept but it only comes from within Drop in Adventure # 4 – yes, one Calculation the book.

28. Land-30

Dave Johnson / DC Comics

Now we're starting to get somewhere! Earth based it is noteworthy Elseworlds News!

Earth-30 is the setup of Mark Millar & # 39; s Superman: The red son, re-watching the DC Universe if Superman's rocket landed in Soviet Russia in the 1940s. I’m not a huge fan of this series, but it’s actually a book that is famous for its name.

27. Land 19

Earth-19 is a steampunk arrangement that comes from it Gotham is electric, an original Elseworlds story. Batman fights Jack the Ripper in the 1880s, fun. The powerful re-creation of Batman's costume has created a repeatable appearance as one of the most atmospheric Batmans.

26. Land 15

The entire Earth-15 universe was destroyed by the Superboy prime, but Hal Jordan recently changed its authenticity and repeated it with heroes to undermine the space dictator who was constantly trying to clear the Green Lantern Corps.

This has happened recently, of all things, Green Lantern: Blackstars, because we wouldn't expect Grant Morrison to keep his sticky fingers separate from most people in one moment.

25. Land 52

Photo: Scott Snyder, Grant Morrison, James Tynion IV, Joshua Williamson, Howard Porter, Jorge Jimenez, Doug Mahnke, Jamie Mendoza / DC Comics

Earth-52 receives many Point Points: It's a world where all heroes are the same except everyone is a toe. Does Gorilla City still exist, one wonders? Now it is called “The City of Men?” Is there a “Man's Vision?”

Land 52 lost More points on becoming the 53rd Earth added to the year 52 by author Scott Snyder. Scott, everyone knows that various DCs have only 52 worlds! We have 13 wonderful places in the world, which are not included at all for different people. You may choose one of these!

24. Land-43

Land of Doug Moench and Kelley Jones & # 39; Batman & Dracula the trilogy, in which Batman becomes a vampire to gain the power to defeat Dracula, but loses the last of his humanity when he breaks his ultimate anti-murder rule… to kill Dracula. The GCPD must begin to invade Batman's mob bosses in order to keep them from rising like vampires, Catwoman becomes an out-of-control boss, Alfred and Commissioner Gordon have to put Batman down as his beloved dog is put down.

I'm going to give Earth-43 this: It's definitely a gonzo, and it might be higher if not for the obvious fact that you should no be one of 52 similar countries. It has to be about one slippery Earth of the Dark Multiverse, created by a world in which heroes are overcome by their worst desires. Don't go to me.

23. Land 48

In Earth 48, the nine allied kingdoms decided to stop fighting each other in internal battles and turned the world into barren wasteland, and began to form wars there. Survivors of those wars were banished from the world to death, eventually forming a separate society and descending from all nine empires, destroying those empires.

This is just too much history and bonuses for something that only comes from within Drop in Adventure # 1. Points for that.

22. Land-12

Editing of Batman Beyond. They may be high, except for this jokes kind of Batman Beyond, and, look. Batman Beyond never worked well in comics.

Bright Outside the dress is unparalleled from the animation style of the animated series. It looks bad for any kind of detailed or literal translation – and especially for cosplay (sorry, Terry McGinnis cosplayers). And the events of Batman Beyond are not rated from Gotham City's DC animated Universe. Stop trying to combine a Batman Beyond future with DCU and just give us a DC animated Universe Earth already.

21. Land-11

A world in which all sexual characters and gender presentations are at odds with gender. Trinity is Super Woman, Princess, and Wonder Man. Everybody in the world has to come up with one of these, and many stories must be told on Earth-11. My words to the ears of DC.

20. Earth-4

Image: DC Comics

With Earth-4, we've hit the heights of Earths – including Earths based on the love that once existed, now closed to comic publishers whose intellectual property acquired by DC Comics once they were killed.

As much as I love Blue Beetle and Question, however, Charlton Universe is famous for being competitive today approx steal Guards the atmosphere. The DC Universe has its own version of Charlton's hidden heroes, and keeping the universe alive on his Earth feels unnecessary.

19. Earth-10

Back in the & # 39; 80s, Earth-10 went by another name: Earth-X (Eat Your Heart, Hickman). It was home to the characters of Quality Comics, Original Fight Fighters, a heroic group led by an uncle of the United States, in a world where the Nazis were able to establish a powerful world government. It may be overrated, but it's very real.

18. Land 16

Home Size of Little Justice cartoon. Indeed it is!

I must remind you again: Batman: Animal series it has no designated Earth.

17. Land-51

Bruce Timm / DC Comics

Calculation described Earth 51 as “The closest possible universe. Not to mention crime, war, poverty, disease, ”before it was abolished by the evil Superboy, it was reproduced by the DC Universe, then infected by a virus that forced humankind into anthropomophic animals, replacing humans as the world's dominant species.

This is the land of Kamandi, The Last Boy on Earth the setting, behind the charming yet completely brilliant genius of Jack Kirby's Jack Kirby. Kamandi reigns, which is why Earth-51's highest ranking is on the list.

16-15. Earth 6 and Earth 8

Both Earth-6 and Earth-8 are whistleblowers in the Marvel Universe. I accept this. I would also agree if the larger Marvel Universe itself could be given its own calculated world in the DC Canon. We know it's one of them! They had crossovers!

14. World-20

Earth-20 appeared briefly in comics, and then only in Grant Morrison. But the idea! The pulp characters are already members of the Justice Society, however More pulpy. Think big heroes, but in Brendan Fraiser's world Mummy. It was fun, and if the right creative team wants to take them again, I'll be starting in line.

13. Land-3

Image: DC Comics

Every single person needs one where all good guys are bad guys, and in DC Comics, that Earth-3. Superman? No, Ultraman. Batman? Nah, Owlman. Justice League? Buddy, the rulers of the land-conquest are a criminal organization. And they tease each other – and betray one another – like the best episode of any reality TV show. This is the DC Universe you love to hate and can't stop watching. Everyone needs one of those.

12. Land 13

Earth-13 is what Earth-33 wants to be. Yes, it is another world based on magic instead of science, but Earth-13 is still very much up to date. On Earth-13, Etrigan is Superman, and everyone calls him Superdemon. & # 39; He was drawn to Earth from the land occupied by Camelot by a witch by the name of Merlin, "and was discovered by" Jason Blood, the son of a Midwestern preacher, "who suggested a real demon to fight crime. That is basically" what if Hellboy were Superman! "

Me eagerly you need to know what it's like in the world-13.

11. Land 26

In Marvel Comics, you have the world of Spider-Ham, where most of Marvel's characters are reproduced as cartoon versions of the cartoon itself. Captain Carrot & The Zoo Crew actually that's up to Superman and the Justice League, but it's even more involved. As a human being read the entire Discworld book before I found out about Captain Comrot & # 39; Carrot & # 39; Carrot, there's always been some misunderstanding there.

However, there is a lot of negativity out there in Captain Carrot & # 39; s Earth-26, and you will find him appearing in many media outlets. Or that reminds me a lot War Captain.

10. Land 18

A world where everything is the same but takes place in the Old West. Hell yeah. Many more users should have this. I'm looking at you, Star Trek – cut the holodeck straight out of the equation.

9. Land-31

Photo: Frank Miller / DC Comics

Frank Miller The Dark Knight Returns the atmosphere. There is no denying the long-term effect Miller & # 39; s magnum opus has had on Batman throughout the media – but I am glad that it has its own Earth to deal with instead of acting as a future of coercion directed at all Batman stories.

8. Land 44

An atmosphere where everyone is a robot! Sit up, you beautiful universe.

7. Land-25

Home to Alan Moore & # 39; s America & # 39; s Best Comics settings, where, having won World War II, opponents, all powerful "science heroes" moved to one high city: the Neopolis. In addition to hosting the Tom Strong news, Earth-25 is also home Top Ten, Alan Moore & # 39; s and others series about the clash of superheroes and cops. You probably haven't heard of it, though Top Ten laws.

It has a police sergeant who is a discerning doberman who wears an exoskeleton to travel like a man, and also Hawaiian shirts.

6. Earth-21

The whole universe of Darwyn Cooke & # 39; s The New Frontier in preparation, where all of DC's main characters – as well as many of the secret characters now hiding – all manifested during the Cold War. Cooke's legacy as a painter and writer was soon extinguished, and his greatest contribution to the genre is worthy of this kind of immortality.

5. Land 50

Bryan Hitch / DC Comics

The Beast of the Earth. Or the main characters of Wildpaper – members Authority and WILDCATS series – transferred to the highest possible universe, it is good for DC to save the universe for continuity. Nothing combines well with the heroes of the journey about on & # 39; 00s as Warren Ellis & # 39; on Authority, and besides that we might never have won Steve Orlando & # 39; s Midnighter either Midnighter and Apollo.

4. Earth-22

For DC Elseworlds News ready for movie conversion, The Coming Kingdom it can be ambitious, and probably the least you can get. And yet. In the meantime when it is announced, I will buy a ticket.

The Coming Kingdom is one of DC's most culturally diverse worlds, a setting that finds a mix of radical religious and personal beliefs. out right. And with the art of Alex Ross, it's all a set of ezzes in style. The Coming Kingdom is the reason Wonder Woman is known for the golden eagle armor.

3. Earth-2

Earth-2 has gone through some crashes over the last 10 years, but as of last year Doomsday, it is also home to the original Justice Society and the genres of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman who are old enough to marry and have older children. While representing real-world DCs generation technology for the DCs, Earth-2 plays a very important role in a variety of terrestrial environments, just like in the DC Universe.

However, while the stories set on Earth-2 have been often over the years, they have a small towel feel to them if they don't fit in with the larger world. I'd rather see more Earth-2 characters in the main DCU than Earth-2, which is why I ranked it as third rather than second.

2. Earth-5

Formerly known as Earth-S – for "Shazam" – Earth-5 (look, because the 5 genre looks a lot like the S …) home of the Fawcett Comics character previously known as Captain Marvel. Having read some comics of the era before DC's Shazam news was linked to the DC timeline, I can tell you. They were great.

Shakam is a character who works well as a weird niche for the DCU, but also thrives in a jokier, pulpier environment. I drop the Earth-5 book on my drag list any day.

1. Earth-0

Image: Scott Snyder, Jim Cheung / DC Comics

Here we are. It is the only position, and the obvious conclusion: The best of all the DC Universe is a great DC universe.

I've tried to leave it in a more interesting position, but I'll be lying if I try to say that any other Earth on this list has a paid conceptual underpinning payload or character line than Earth-0. And that makes sense, since all these Earths are just signs of Earth-0, even those created by the fabric of all other publishers. Superman was the first superhero, his placement was the first superhero idea, and DC was the first publisher to create a superhero multverse.

The whole genre, no matter how renewed it is, reflects those rules of storytelling. No wonder Doctor Manhattan calls it “the metaverse.”

And perhaps a fitting conclusion to this Earth Day. In a sense, DC Comics actually only has one world, and it's a fantastic 50 shows for them to be extremely grateful. We without fail have only one Earth, and a distinct lack of super heroes. Things to remember!
