Zoro with swords
This week there will be no One Piece chapter, but soon we will see the Straw Hat pirates infiltrate the Onigashima Palace, where Kaido and Orochi celebrate their alliance with Big Mom. On the other side, all the allies have already gathered, including Denjiro who appeared by surprise to reveal his true identity. Following those pages, staunch One Piece fans have crafted theories around this character, concluding that Denjiro could be Zoro's teacher. Finally, Eiichiro Oda himself was asked to reveal the following information.

In the SBS of the last volume of One Piece, a reader asks Oda directly about the relationship between Zoro and the Shinotsuki family. As seen in the first chapters, Zoro grew up in a village where he trained to become the best swordsman in the world. This academy was run by Shinotsuki Koushirou, but on one occasion Zoro spoke of «An old man in his town» who taught him the term Sunacchi which is an abbreviation that translates as "Leave behind your name and fame." In Wano's country, Zoro heard this battle cry from the Red Pod allies again. So, Oda revealed the story of this man and how he connects everything with Zoro and the country of Wano, dropping that it has to do with the lineage of the swordsman.

As he explained, Shimotsuki Kozaburo was the one who forged the Enma sword, which would later come into the hands of Zoro. But following a chronological order, Kozaburo gave the sword to Kozuki Oden and 55 years ago they embarked together to live a great adventure. They came to a place in East Blue, where they helped the locals with the mountain bandits. They decide to settle there and found the village Shimotsuki, Zoro's hometown. Over the years her son Koushirou and her granddaughter Kuina are born. In Oda's words, "Whom Zoro referred to as 'an old man in his village' that he met was actually grandfather Shimotsuki Kozaburo-san, who comes from Wano Country. Oh So could that mean … Zoro's lineage …? Well, the story of Shimotsuki Kozaburo, the samurai who founded Shimotsuki Village, is all I'm willing to share today! ”.
