One game worth watching Axiom Verge 2. It was teased last month during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase and is scheduled to hit the Switch at the Shop sometime this year.
The game's creator, Tom Happy, had previously mentioned how the following approach could be mixed Metroid and History of Zelda, and now in the same conversation (thanks for the tip, GoNintendo), revealed how many Axiom Verge games have been released, as long as they replicate actual success.
This was his direct answer:
That's a plan. Or I might get burned AV after finishing 2 and touch a different kind of game in between.
Tom also mentioned how he always reads the players' feedback and said that despite the ongoing requests, he will will never turn the series into a multiplayer title, but you can make an effort to deal with any other requests:
I read the player's response or not always react to it. I will never repent Axiom Verge in a multiplayer game no matter how much people ask, but I try to tackle many other things when I can.
