Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, has clarified that Playstation 5 It will have a backward compatibility system that will allow to run almost the entire library of PlayStation 4 games. "With all the amazing games featured in the PS4 catalog, we've put a lot of effort into making it possible for our fans to play their favorite titles on PlayStation 5," says Hideaki Nishino. "We estimate that an overwhelming majority of the more than 4,000 PlayStation 4 games will be playable on PlayStation 5. We hope that backward compatible titles will benefit from higher PS5 frequencies and have a higher frame rate and possibly higher resolution." .
We recall that these Nashino statements come a few days after Mark Cerny, main architect of PlayStation 5, stated that on the day of its launch the console's backward compatibility system would be prepared to run "almost all" the 100 most played PS4 titles .
