My love is in love with it Crokinole it has become a desire to spend all the money on solitude.
There are two groups of people when it comes to Crokinole: who have never heard of a human drama based on beloved people, and those who are die-hard fans. Most people start their lives in one group, then play a cycle or two with a good friend or family member and join the second group immediately. Painless transformation, I assure you.
Or, at the very least, it's not as painful as a game that at first might be more expensive. Your first board will cost at least $ 100, and probably more, but you get what you pay for. Then read the rules, then send your first photo to close the board, cut off one of your opponent's pieces and leave the board open for a shot at the center – and you're lying. It's easy to fall in love with someone Crokinole, and it usually happens very quickly.
You may also be Canadian, and grow up with it and know it all, but most of us are not so lucky. So what is it Crokinole, or why is it the right match for our times?
The rules of Crokinole
Crokinole it is often played between friends and family as a form of entertainment, sometimes while drinking. A good reason to be with people, talk about what's going on, and have some fun in the world while trying to break down another player or team during play. Crokinole it is a way to make friendships a fun way to pass the time.
Family tradition! The board is fired at almost every Christmas party I attend. It's kind of an expected game. I don't usually see it at other times of the year but I like the fact that it's easy to pick up and be effective without experience and / or limited mobility.

Crokinole the boards are huge, so you'll need a good amount of space to set up and play. I bought mine at Crokinole Canada, and was very pleased with the quality of the board.
Most rounds are played by two people sitting alone, each player with 12 discs to toss through the board. You can play with two teams of two players each.
My parents are artisans and knew a woodworker who bought a handmade board when I was a kid. It turned out to be a great summer experience in the family home, spending hours each day with my brother. I like the simplicity of this game, but it has a high level of skill.

Players take turns rotating their discs toward the center of the board. Only the discs sit completely inside the inner ring of the official 15 points, and continue on the board. Your opponent then has to make sure they hit your piece in order for their match to be considered legitimate. So their opportunity entails them in trying to wrap your disk in your piece in the middle, hitting your piece completely or at least in a place with a minimum of points, while keeping their part in a 15-point position on the board. Any pieces that are piled into a small, burned hole in the middle of the board are removed from play and kept to the side, as they are worth 20 points at the end of the game.
All that you need to remember. Once the board is clear, you need to guide the medium and store your pieces there for points. If there are pieces from the opposing side of the board, you should aim, and hit, at least one of them for your piece to stay on the board, scoring points. If you miss, your shoot is taken off the board, not scored. Any item that has been knocked from the play area into the abdomen is removed. The cycle ends when each player has shot all their discs, and the game is awarded.
There are a few other reduced parts here and there that you can take when you start playing – everyone seems to be building their own house rules after buying the board – but those are the basics.
Scoring sounds complicated on paper, but it makes perfect sense if playback begins effortlessly. Only one player or team receives any points in a given round; the number of points scored is equal to the difference between opponents scores, and those points are awarded to the player or team that came before. So if we were playing, and you put 60 points on the board but I get 50 points, the final score by 10 points, then it goes to your perfection.
Then the board is reset, and then another round begins. This goes on until one player or team reaches the 100 points or the winning terms agreed upon. And that's it! That's a game. Now you know how to play Crokinole.
It's a game of our time
But who can, at the moment, how fun it is to send a piece flying neatly between two anchors to fire a piece of opponents on board. A shot that sounds like you were aiming for the limit. The fun atmosphere happens when you burn a piece in the middle, and players and spectators relish in that brief moment of chaos as the whole thing swirls in everything else, waiting to see who has won – or lost – many points from the connection.

There's that magic gun where everything goes wrong and you can pull off the impossible, but that's less common than events where everything goes wrong. I played games where players ended up pinning the pieces directly to the center hole, and I played a long time where the board was set up over and over again because no one was able to complete the cycle either points on the board. I've had lengthy debates about the "one check rule," which says that you can completely change your sitting position to get a better angle for your shot, as long as your other cheek is touching your seat at all times.
Does that sound like a joke? Certainly. Are there any games where things would be more fun if you disagree with the rule of one cheek to get the best shot? Of course, especially when the players involved are a little late. Or more, as is the case these days. Crokinole it usually starts as a light deviation, only for players to start taking it seriously as the night goes on.
That exchange is part of the magic of Crokinole, especially families, couples, or friends clinging together. The game can increase or decrease depending on how people want to play, and what they hope to get out of it. Crokinole
It can be as remote or as hard as you like, and that efficiency makes it a great family game. The rules and basic gaming are easy enough for even the youngest kids to participate in, but the skill range is so high that you can spend years finding the hardest guns and perfecting your accuracy.
There’s also the tradition of the board itself, the large wooden block that feels more durable and more satisfying than any other sports venue I’ve ever played. Some people add sand helping the pieces slide over the board, and doing so completely changes the feel of the game. Some people swear by various levels of wax added to wood or pieces, to reduce friction.
You will find players with strong feelings about the materials used for the pins across the board. It's easy to be a professional player on your sandbox with plastic pins, only when you don't feel like starting on a friend's stringed board with rubber-coated steel pins. And yes, I put the sand right on the board. Which some people may disagree with, but that's okay! No two boards, or the paths to this game are the same, and there are no right or wrong answers as to how they are played, as long as everyone agrees.
It's a game that comes up over time, as players get better and the board is treated with care and love. It takes space, time, and various amounts of attention. It's a selfish game you can play with your kids, or a serious skill test that can lead to good shouting games with friends.
You can allow for a full shot, as well as the right game-winning board, but it still has to take off. There is no hiding place, and no excuses will be accepted. You can do each shot, or you don't. Crokinole it is life, boiled to its original essence and pressed into a wooden board. Only one disk will be made of wood at a time, just as Dominic Toretto would have wanted it … Had he grown up in Canada.
Crokinole it is not a game as it is a complete, self-contained entertainment item that requires practice, continuous care, skill and luck. To play it to love, and to buy your own board and bring others to the fold is an investment in your future. 2020 has been shining in many ways, but you can do it at least better by delivering Crokinole to your home, and in so doing, bring it to your heart.
You will not regret it.
