Although Sony has already offered official details about PlayStation 5, one of the aspects that for the moment have been kept secret are its backward compatibility options with previous PlayStation consoles. Microsoft believes that Xbox Series X will have an advantage during the launch in this regard, but new rumors point to a similar system for PS5.
The rumors come from youtuber HipHopGamer, who in the past has been shown as a reliable source of information, which has recently claimed to have details about Sony's work with the backward compatibility of PS5. Sony would be working on a complete "Remastering Engine" for your next-gen console, which would allow you to play games from PS1 to PS4 on the machine, all of them with visual enhancements.
HipHopGamer ensures that the system would work in a way very similar to the Xbox One X backward compatibility – and that Xbox Series X will have -, So PS5 will not only execute the titles of all previous consoles of the brand, but would add them 4K support. In addition, we must remember that in recent months we have seen Sony patents that point to an advanced backward compatibility on PS5, including the patent that would add trophies to PS1 and PS2 games, for example.
PlayStation 5 will be released in late 2020.
