After a little longer break something is happening again in terms of Battlefield. Already announced in October 2019, the plans to publish a new game next year appear to be taking shape.

It's no longer a secret that DICE and EA are working on a new Battlefield since autumn at the latest. At the time, it was announced – without giving any details about the game – that a new Battlefield in the fiscal year 2022, which spanned the period April 2021 to March 2022, was to appear.
We obviously don't have to wait until the end of the fiscal year in question, as DICE has now announced that the development will focus on the future of Battlefield with a new game that is scheduled for release in 2021. It fits that DICE is currently releasing the latest content updates for Star Wars Battlefront II and Battlefield V. The teams will probably be assigned new tasks soon.
After the previous two-year rhythm of 2020, EA and DICE had no prospect of a new Battlefield, simply to wait for a broader installed base of the new PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles, which certainly makes sense given the expensive production of a Battlefield. They also wanted to rely on the innovations made possible by the new consoles.
