If in these complex days you have to go outside, maybe you should use a mask to protect you from COVID-19. And if so, you may also have problems when using your smartphone if it has face recognition as a biometric security feature. This is the case for the iPhone X, XS, XR, 11 and 11 Pro, where Apple has had to implement some additional measures.
Apple regards its users' safety when using the iPhone. Not just for biometric recognition, but also for ensuring that we don't have to cast our mask on times like this, mostly because we shouldn't cheat it, pretty much remove it, once we open it and we're home. But all of this has been complicated by the user ID, which can detect the mask users correctly.
For this reason, and as part of the next update for iOS 13.5 software, Apple will allow the iPhone to automatically detect when wearing a mask, as revealed by 9to5Mac. When that happens, when the phone is switched on the keyboard will be promptly allowed to enter the unlock code. This way, Apple will not compromise the security of our terminology, as it would be possible if it allowed the use of a facial ID.
As mentioned @ Sonikku_a2, when you are wearing a mask, iOS 13.5 goes straight to the passcode when you try to unlock with a face ID (the keypad is not shown because iOS hides it with screen recordings) pic.twitter.com/bQCzu5u20p
