New UK game sales data has revealed the best-selling titles of 2019, alongside the news that sports revenue has dropped in the region for the first time since 2012.

As noted above, virtual sales are notable year after year. According to GfK, 17.6 million box-built games were sold by retailers – a 19.8% decrease from 2018 total. Digital sales are on the rise, but only, generating 1.1% more revenue than last year.
GamesIndustry notes that for the first time that the UK software market has seen a decline in revenue since 2012, although there is one obvious reason for this. 2012 saw PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 begin to fade with the promise of PS4 and Xbox One on the screen; 2019 is in a similar situation, with sales piling up under the PS5 and Xbox Series X launches scheduled to take place in 2020.
